hmm I will put it on a ramp to see this. I just can't believe, I could be this unlucky, my street has two Golf R's (been here for years) the next street has facelift S3, RS7 and a S8 (been there for at least a year)

answer to the Insurance question, I do have insurance. but I'm not going to blindly let my pride and joy get stolen.
a street of proper individuals then............

My black edition sportback is arriving next month.

Hate reading these stories.
To feel you with even more confidence, the 5 door sportbacks are the ones the thieves want. These cars get stolen to do other crimes in, robberies and smash & grabs mainly, having 5 doors means more scrotes can quickly get in

so the four exhaust don't give it away, and its black pack so front roughly blends in really nicely.
It doesn't blend in anywhere near as nicely as you think.

I hate reading these posts. I'd love a S3 or Golf R and I always said I'd get whatever car I wanted but now I read stuff like this and think about something happening to me or worse the mrs. I know they'll be a group that will be happy to go about ready for trouble and not worry about the consequences but the majority will rather not have to deal with it all or worry about an attack. If an alarm & CCTV doesn't deter them, what will?!

OP where are you roughly located? I know the majority of this happens in the big cities but it's spreading outwards

It wouldn't be quite as much of a worry but it seems it's a weekly occurrence one of the two mentioned get nicked. Last week I saw a post of an Ara blue S3 get stolen, yesterday I saw a guy post up CCTV of someone trying to nick his Golf R, they drive off in what looked like an Ara blue S3! To make matters worse police dont have the resources to deal with anything.

It's a sad situation when we have to consider how nick-able our choice of car is before buying.

Is this true being the most stolen though? I do hear about them being stolen but i appear to here far from s3 and golf r stories of thefts, must only notice one fiesta st stolen post every 3 weeks whereas the s3 i notice a lot more.

Or..

As for Plod, it depends on the force and the officer. When I was in I could just walk to the CSI (Yes, they really named them that for a while) and ask nicely and they'd dust an item for me there and then. You could always put a sign up saying 'Found a torch' and see if they come to claim it. Scumbags.

4wd.
Auto
Blends in.
300+ hp.

Keep keys hidden. Use steering lock (proper bolt on jobby).

Or fit a ghost immobilisor (look them up on YouTube).

Prepare to dominate!

Get this mobile or similar...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Alcatel-Pixi-4...

Add this app

https://mobile-tracker-free.com/

Pay a garage to wire it into your cars power supply and hide it somewhere on the car such as in the centre console behind the radio.

Then get a tracker professionally fitted. Odds are they will find one but not the other as they will only be expecting you to have 1 tracker fitted as no sane person will pay for two subscriptions.

I have an rs audi
It got stolen in my office car park at 2pm last year and was used as a getaway car for a bank job.
I had it recovered. My driveway is gated in the sticks
I would not be able to sleep at night I'd I had to park it on a street or on a suburbian driveway

I have a Golf R and I prefer to park it on the road rather than on the drive. At least on the road it's not immediately obvious which house the keys would be in.

Also, I don't understand where they all go. I know of plenty of Golfs that have been stolen and never recovered. Do they get broken up or shipped abroad? They can't all be used in armed robberies and ATM thefts!
