Yes the diesel has a DPF.

Buy the petrol if you do low mileage and short journeys

Buy the diesel if you do higher mileage and longer journeys.

I would pick the diesel if you are towing.

Sorted.

I quite like the idea of one as a back up tip/bad weather/whatever car.

But the thought just pops in to my mind that it's a Renault, but built down to a price. yikes
I seem to remember someone here commenting something along the lines of 'a cut price Renault? I thought that's what a Renault was.'

Anyway, I like them. Some friends have had a duster from new for I would guess 5 years. Seems to have been very dependable despite their dog's best efforts to rip it apart from the inside out.

I was shocked how many I saw around big money Le Touquet last time I was there. Nice looking cheap cars.

France seems full of them in general.

Sadly the towing limit is only 1,500kg, which puts me off - do like the concept though - most modern cars are far too full of kit which can fail - esp. electronics, so keeping it basic and simple is a great idea...

Those foreign chappies know their cheap and reliable cars.
In Spain you still see lots of Renault 4 vans and Citroen Visa D vans and this looks set to take their place.

They don't seem to have forgotten the value of money so generally don't spunk away tens of thousands they haven't yet earned on some car they don't really have need of. Plus, they tend to look down on each other via other metrics than the key fob. But on the flip side they don't have a grip of their emotions. biggrin

Don't remind me. Our local Citroen dealer was knocking out new Visa Vans for £5k around the time (10ish years ago) they stopped selling them. Lad at school's mum had a yellow Dyane van and my Dad had a grey R4 one in the early seventies.

cough Princess Diana. I think we lost the ability to claim that over our Continental cousins almost exactly 20 years ago...

This is sadly true. However, being married to an Italian and having a house repeatedly filled with half of the Med from Portugal to Israel I am comfortable that while we have trended strongly towards our Southern European cousins we are not yet at parity. biggrin

Rather liked this Suzuki.

What's the RRP on these?

£5k City Car also planned.

Impressively cheap, makes the Korean city cars look positively expensive smile I'm guessing it will be based on the old Twingo, so I wonder if the 1.2 turbocharged engine will be offered?

I really like the new Ignis but only available with a N/A 1.2, I don't know why they don't offer the Boosterjet in this car.

The City car makes the Seat and Skoda versions look a bit cut price.

They are supposed to be very good - Richard Porter had one on test and liked it a lot. And they look funny on the road, different to the usual FiestaCorsaPolo blandness.

I wish them luck. Everyone just needs to get back into making cars fun again.

I think Suzuki are on a roll at the moment, both the new Ignis and new Swift look really good on the road.

I completely see the appeal of the duster and to some extent the logan at.

11.5k gets you a 4x4 basic duster.
12k gets you a decent spec Logan stepway with the 0.9 litre turbo engine

Personally I'm getting bored of throwing so much money at cars. The idea of getting a brand new motor and just keeping it for ten years just makes sense.

My 5 series is worth about 11k private or 10k part ex. Could I really swap a BMW for a dacia?

Seems to have air bags after all:

But still... 3 stars?
Probably to do with lack of warning beeps for everything except headlights and seat belt. Even the seat belt one stops after driving a while.
Yep, have a look at the actual breakdown scorings; performs well for crash protection etc but not so well for warning bongs etc.
I'm surprised there's a car available in 2017 that still has brake drums at the rear, but here it is.

The whole point of Dacia is that it's old Renault stuff, but redone in Romania. The fact that the styling isn't crap doesn't mean the cars are up to scratch for this year.

Not a fan.
