R8 service costs
Discussion
my local Audi main dealer are quoting £480 or £785 inc vat depending upon if it needs a major / minor, which isnt too bad i suppose given the car. major includes oil, plugs, filters etc.
I'm tempted to stick with OE but also aware of Ricky at REP having a great reputation, albeit he is a hundred miles away.
prices about right from experience?

Audi publicises it's pricing on their website (see link below) and your pricing is in line with what they advertise.I'm tempted to stick with OE but also aware of Ricky at REP having a great reputation, albeit he is a hundred miles away.

Ricky does indeed know his stuff but depends if you're prepared to travel or want to maintain any dealer service history!

quick question also, mine had a major almost 2 yrs ago with plugs etc, its had no minor inbetween but has only done 5k miles, does it fall under a major again?
Mmmmm good question. The mileage is low but the service interval is too long. R8's need a service every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner - an oil change at that time is a must. For such a high performance car and £400 difference in minor vs major service cost, I'd do a major now and then a minor + oil change in 12 months - might be worth a check of your service book/phone a dealer to confirm.
Some Audi dealer perpetuate a 20,000 mile service internal - just not suitable for an R8! Ignore anyone who suggests that!

Supply your own parts aswell! Audi will charge you well over £200 for the cost of the oil which you can buy yourself online from europarts/opie etc for around £100.
Heard of that but suprised they would use my oil? May enquire. The first was a major service which required oil, plugs, air filters and pollen filter. Can't remember the exact figures but I was quoted £1400+ but after supplying my own oil and plugs which I got from europarts for £170 this brought the cost down to around £960!!
Had the expansion tank recall done on mine too a couple of months ago. No problems with the job itself but they did a health check while it was there and tried to get me to replace the rear tyres that had over 2mm on them at the time. Apparently, they recommend changing at 3mm! I won't be doing that in a hurry.

even at circa £800 for a major its not a bad price for servicing such a car, people are getting quotes higher than that at OPC centres for the 996/997s etc for major servicing. i think i'll keep it another year maybe more, if so i will get a minor done oil only next time. the only thing tempting me out of the R8 at present if it comes up is a modified classic alfa perhaps, or one of the new Alfa QF once the depreciation has established, but at present i think the R8 takes some beating for the cash as an experience.
