My Nexus 7 (2013) is slowly dying. Nothing wrong speed wise (it's running Nougat) but the USB connector is iffy and the battery is poor. I was hoping to replace it with the rumored new Pixel / Nexus 7. But it seems increasingly unlikely this is going to be announced with the new Pixel phones (If it is ever released at all).

What I ideally want is:

1200 x 1920 or better resolution
3GB+ Memory
64GB+ Storage (32GB + SD Card may be OK)
Octa Core CPU (Snapdragon 835 or equivalent would be nice)
Nougat or Oreo OS.

I don't want a bigger tablet as I find them uncomfortable to hold one handed. I have an iPad Mini 2 which I don't use due to this. Slightly smaller might work and something like a Xaomi Mi Max 2 with a 6.4" display is tempting. Far too big as a phone but might just do me as a tablet. Really cant find any 7 inch tablets with a decent spec!

Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus (64GB version) - http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_tab_4_8_plus-8603.p...
Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8 - http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mediapad_m3_lite_8-...
Asus Zenpad 3s 8.0 Z582KL - http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenpad_3s_8_0_z582kl-...

Can't really get 7" any more with those specs but these are 7.9 - 8"

Used this search - http://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3?mode=tablet&am...

Ps. I have a Gen 2 Nexus 7 still going strong and would want similar too when I replace it.

Just gone through pretty much the same thought process and ended up with a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. At 8 inches it is a bit wider (but no longer) but it's thinner and lighter so I'm finding it quite easy on the hand. Maybe worth getting hold of one to see what you think.

Not a fan of Samsung because of the bloatware. The Zenpad is a possibility but I would need to physically try one to see if I could hold it comfortably.

Its tricky, for some reason, to find decent 7-8inch tablets, they are either rubbish or £££.
I`ve just replaced the usb connector on my daughters nexus 7 2013, cost a couple of quid and its not too bad if you are, or know someone, halfway competent with soldering iron wink

I had the USB port on my NEXUS tablet become useless but now charge it overnight using a wireless charging pad. Does the job fine.

I recently replaced my original nexus 7 with a ZenPad, not the one in that link, that's the new one that's not quite out yet. I've got the current model, quite comfortable to use. John Lewis stock them if you have one near you to try.
