BMW's Techno Violet is stunning and a personal favourite

Another fan of Techno Violet here. My Alpina was Madeira Violet, similar but a bit darker. Looked fantastic in the sunshine.

I'm not normally all that bothered about colour on cars but BMW are responsible for the only colours that I've really taken any note of, others being Dakar yellow (looked fantastic on E36's in particular) and I love imola red. There's been some good blues too. Worth mentioning that they're also responsible for some of the most repulsive colours imaginable as well but more good than bad I think. And yet most of them are bought in white, black or grey.

I'm also a big fan of that lovely metallic red that some Renaults and Mazdas come in....

Yes, love that colour, although I think Alfa started the trend with the 8c and subsequently other Alfa models (IIRC it was a ridiculously expensive option, something like £2k on boggo Alfas).

Anything purple, but especially:

Nissan's midnight purple
Audi's merlin purple
Porsche's amethyst metallic
BMW's technoviolet
Lamborghini's Diablo purple (not sure the actual name)
TVR's paradise purple (hope it makes it to the new car)

I like purple stuff.

Miami Blue is lovely too, although personally I prefer BMW's Avus Blue
Yes, that is it. Looks good in photos but even better in the flesh.

In terms of best on regular, every day cars, non model specific:

Silver: great for longevity, scratches and swirls hardly show. Washed and polished on a half decent car it can look good, particularly MB.

Solid Black: horrendous for keeping clean and shows swirls and scratches easily, but when a vehicle is in good condition and its freshly washed and polished it looks superb.

Porsche do some very nice blues, like Riviera and Mexico. Hard not to mention the original BMW Estoril blau too (the new one used on all "sub M" products looks darker and flatter?.

Lambo's Verde Ithaca is the stuff of legends! Oh and I'll throw in Blu Cepheus while I'm at it.

Depends what you're after really...

Black looks the nicest when clean
Red is fastest
Grey is best if your car never gets cleaned.
