I'm planning to cover the back wall of my garage with posters of iconic racing cars from the last 30-ish years. From 1980s until the present. I have no restrictions on formulas/categories but I do enjoy F1, Rally, Moto GP, Dakar, Touring car, Endurance/Prototype/Le Mans. I think I'll need about 20 posters to cover the wall and contenders so far are:

F1: McLaren MP4/4, Williams FW14B

Rally: Subaru Impreza, Audi Quattro

Le Mans: Porsche 956, McLaren F1 GTR, Audi R18

Moto GP: Honda NSR500, Yamaha YZR-M1

Dakar: Cagiva Elefant, KTM 450 Rally

Touring car: Mercedes 190 Evo, Volvo 850, Alfa 155

Over to you guys for more suggestions - thanks!

F1: One of Chapman's Lotuses (Jim Clark Era; plus JPS era); Sharknose Ferraris? Tyrrell 6 wheeler?
Rally: Has to be a Delta in there, manybe also Paddy Hoppkirk's mini and a MK2 Escort BDA
Le Mans: Blower Bentleys, FOrtd GT40, Porsche 917, Mazda Rotary
Touring Cars: M3 and Sierra Cosworth have to be in with a shout; Lotus Cortina?

Hope your gargae walls are massive- the list of ultra-desirable metal/composite is huge!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm trying to keep to vehicles from my lifetime hence no mention of the older F1 stuff - need to keep the numbers down somehow.

The Delta and Sierra will definitely be added to the list!

I'd suggest (in addition to your choices, you've got some good 'uns there)

F1: Maserati 250F, Ferrari 312, Jordan 191

Rally: Lancia 037/Stratos/Delta S4, Renault 5 Gp.B, Mini (the Paddy Hopkirk one, obviously!)

LM: D-type, Mazda 787, Peugeot 905, Toyota GT-1, Jaguar XJR-9, Ford GT40

TC: Anything from the S2000 days to accompany the mighty 850 really, I'd probably say the green+gold Lagunas or the duct-tape bumper Mondeo.

I really like the Jordan 191, Mazda 787 and Laguna.

Some good suggestions. Some of my favourites would be:

Silk Cut Jag XJR9

Castrol Toyota Celica, Safari spec. (pic below would do nicely)

Ferrari 250 GT SWB in Rob Walker colours - don't think it fits any of the original categories as it was more of road racer but phwoarrr

Aston DBR9

Merc Sauber C9

Blower Bentley might feature somewhere

A Lotus 99T in the F1 section? A reminder of the good old days when tobacco sponsorship was king, and F1 cars were cool!

You can't have Dakar bikes without BMW GS980R or Honda NXR750V.

Definitely agree with the Elefant, but I reckon you also need one of Chagin's Kamaz's and a ZX Rally Raid or Pajero Evo.

Britten V1000 needs to be on the list for sheer iconic status too. IoM top speed record, world records for standing 1/4 and mile, NZ GP and Superbike wins...

A BMW in M colours - a CSL is probably too old for your criteria but maybe a 3er Touring car?

Speaking of Touring cars, what about some DTM liveries from the early 90s - Alfa 155, Calibra, the Merc that had the representation of the engine on the bonnet (looking like the bonnet had been peeled back IYKWIM)

Or even the 635CSi that did battle with the Jaguar XJS in the European Touring Car Championship.

Probably the three most famous incarnations of the 155 DTM
