I buy my varifocals from Specsavers.

I have a wooden boat to maintain, stupid old cars to roll around under and a toddler that likes to grab my specs and throw them, I keep trashing the lenses.

Is there a different type of lense that is more difficult to scratch?

Contact lenses?

There’s no plastic lens that is scratch proof, a hard coating helps but will still scratch. You can get damage cover from at least one of the major opticians, might be worth it as they will replace scratched lenses for the period of cover.

ETA: polycarbonate lenses are shatterproof, but tend to scratch more easily. And thinner lenses can be softer than standard, so more prone to scratching
