Dealers have always taken the piss a bit.

13 years ago, a Renault main dealer tried to charge me for topping up the washer bottle. Only I did it before I left home, and didn't need to clean the screen. It wasn't leaking.

I picked the car up close to closing time, and waited until the cost was removed from the bill. Which is was eventually. I apologised to the lass on the service desk for keeping her from going home.

I've owned a couple of MINIs with panoramic roofs, there were no requirements to service them.

The one became rather sluggish when the car was nearly 3 years old, they kindly agreed to replace the mechanism before the warranty ran out. I seem to remember the bill would have been over £1500 eek. It was fine for the next 7 years that I owned the car.

Also worth noting that most insurers have a clause that excludes the sunroof panels from glass claims, so if you need a replacement you're in for a big bill or a conventional insurance claim.

Possibly more trouble than they're worth, although they do make a cabin a lot less dingy.

Agreed ..... but what can I do? They wouldn't budge.

They're all part of the service schedule but in their eyes they're doing three consecutive services all at once.

1. Major service
2. Haldex change
3. Sunroof service.

They paid for the first on the list.
If it was a Merc and the next service had called for an ATF change they'd have done it as part of the service.
