I've seen the first two and I'm reserving judgement for now.

OK no longer reserving judgement. Without spoiling anything it's nicely made, looks OK but whoever wrote it seems to have dropped every cliché possible into the plot and characters.

Maybe it'll surprise me but at this stage it looks like it'll be very predictable.

Watched the pilot last night. I liked it, thought it was a good start. Didn't realise it was from The Wire team until after but on reflection yeah, had the same vibe. Alot of different characters and storylines to get your head round but guess they will tie in as the story progresses.

Was taken aback a bit by the phone booth scene. I think that's the first time I've seen one on mainstream TV in that...errr...state lol.

Watched the pilot over the weekend and thought it was pretty good, but I love that era. Some of the scenes were pretty racy too.

Will definitely watch episode 2 when the chance arises this week.

Enjoyed the first one - I guess it's as close to more episodes of the Wire we're going to get.

Upto episode 5 now

On the whole enjoying it and does have the wire element to it and great to see some of the same faces..

Probably going against the grain here but some of the sex scenes could be cut out as getting a bit same same while not particularly adding to the story...

Anyone still watching?

Series 2 started this week, it's leapt a few years and a whole era in time.

I think it's great, I re-watched the first series over the summer, enjoyed it more the second time, the details are where it's at.

I will have to check out season 2. Thought S1 was superb.

I think it’s one of those shows that you need to binge watch, I might leave it until they have all aired, though I hadn’t realised it was back on TV.

Maybe it’s me, but I found ep 1 of series 2 a bit difficult to watch, and work out, I had to rewind occasionally, and watch bits again, but I won’t give up on it, series 1 was too good.
There again, with the final ep of “Keeping Faith”, I felt like I was blindfolded in a maze, was it this?, was it that?, but my wife said that it was all understandable to her.
I’m going nuts trying to figure out credible scenarios for “Bodyguard”, now this John Simm one, “Strangers”, set in Hong Kong, looks set to tax my brain.

It's better than most TV currently being lauded on PH IMO. Well written and acted, lots of interesting characters and groovy Eighties music, cars etc

I've just finished watching series 3. It's never really taken off the way HBO thought it would, which might explain why Sky decided not to broadcast it the day after the US as they've done in the past, I'll admit I got bored of waiting and found it elsewhere.

Quite enjoyed it, it was entertaining enough to keep me off my phone for an hour at a time which is saying something these days.

I can't help but compare it to The Wire, same writer, lots of the same cast etc. I think the over-riding feeling when the wire ended was that despite everything that went on, nothing had changed. The City was still the city and game was still the game. The Deuce is the opposite, everything changes and nothing is the same again.

The last series is quite dark at times, the last scene of the last episode is very good though.

I have been waiting for this to get on Sky but no indication it will do, might find it elsewhere this evening.

I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, shame it hasn't been more popular but perhaps it was not fantastic enough during the reign of GoT.
