Can we stop describing a five door saloon as a 'hot hatch'? It isn't, same as Focus etc, etc,,,,, They are impressive saloons and not hot hatch's. It's marketing by manufacturers who make more money by converting existing '5' door cars rather then make a 3 door car which will always look better IMHO. 3 door = cool, 5 door = mumsies car with spoilers.
All power to them and they seem to have plenty, but hot hatches they ain't.
Ha ha ha ha ha. 5 door saloon? Its a hatch even if you dont like 5 door hatches. All power to them and they seem to have plenty, but hot hatches they ain't.

Did you stop to think that the body shell is actually stiffer as a five door? All power to them and they seem to have plenty, but hot hatches they ain't.
This place amazes me sometimes.

A 5 door what? All power to them and they seem to have plenty, but hot hatches they ain't.
No one buys 3 door hatchbacks because they are a pain in the arse for the target audience to get the kids in and out of. That’s why Renault have binned off the 3 door Renault Sport models as well.

Am i the only one thinking this is expensive?
I paid similar/less money for a pre-reg A-250 amg 4matic. And that is a Merc has double clutch g-box, 4 wheel drive, large sun roof and is made in Germany.
Doesn't the A250 have about 30% less power? I doubt the chassis is set up with the same sort of thing in mind either. I paid similar/less money for a pre-reg A-250 amg 4matic. And that is a Merc has double clutch g-box, 4 wheel drive, large sun roof and is made in Germany.
Just back from touring California. Spotted 4 blue i30 N's in convoy going through Death Valley, development work unfinished by the looks.......sorry no pics as I was behind the wheel, other half too slow with the camera.
Not a bad looking motor, got to be better than the trashy Type R or F-RS. imo.

I first drove an i30 as a hire car about 8 years ago, and was surprised how good it was.
Choice is always a good thing, so I'm glad they have made a hot hatch and from the review it sounds like it is a good first attempt!
No skimping on the hardware either with a proper diff - but I'd rather not have the multiple driving modes. Just set it up properly in the factory please.
I also like the looks - which is why I don't like the Type-R.
List price is good too - but as has been said for cars like this it is the monthly lease cost that is the difference between success and failure.
Anyway I hope they sell some - then maybe I can find a used one in a few years!

My missus has a 4 door hatchback. Looks amazing from one side and a bit hatchbacky from the other. No one buys 3 door hatchbacks because they are a pain in the arse for the target audience to get the kids in and out of. That’s why Renault have binned off the 3 door Renault Sport models as well.
Hyundai as well....it's a really interesting car let down by a sheet engine.
Why does everybody hate the new type r? Havent seen one positive comment about it yet the build time on them is 6 months minimum and 3 dealerships share one demo for customers to try, I've had to wait a week to test drive one (tomorrow morning). You literally need an appointment to test drive one!
It's a bit like Donald trump, most people in the US claimed they hated him yet he somehow won!
Anyways that Hyundai is nice but I only see it as a seat Leon cupra competitor, it could be 10 times better than a GTi but nobody would pick one over it. As for the focus ST, I feel as if the only people that buy them are people who love fords and nothing else, fast ford fans are loyal, I know 3 and they'd never consider anything else

- EDIT* I mean everybody is claiming the car looks daft and what not but they are flying out of the showrooms
