It's about the same distance from me TBF. The Bradford location is not great IME.

I've got a thing for ridiculous engines in ordinary looking cars, and I'm yet to own a V12.
I’m in Rochdale. You’re welcome to pop over & have a play if you want...

(When I finally get it back from being fixed... still misfiring). irked
That's a kind offer, I'm the other side, in Doncaster. I'd have to sell my mk1 Honda insight, so would be giving up 70-100 MPG for 15-25, which will take a bit of getting used to.

Finally buying a house and also getting a new job 20 miles down the M5 means that I've been able to justify a thread-worthy purchase.

3.0 SE, 2 owners (the last of which was a member of the Jag Enthusiasts Club, 120k, full history at either a main dealer or a Rolls/Bentley specialist.

If anyone knows of a decent Jag specialist (or even just a recommended garage) in the Gloucester area, I'm all ears.

Apologies for the lack of a forecourt picture, it was pretty dark when I filled up (and I forgot).
Some more love from me for paddycam's plunge into the dark side with what looks like a cracking buy in a lovely colour. Assuming, paddy, that it cost a mere handful of folding?
In the end it was, at least to me, indecently cheap. I probably slightly overpaid at 3k, but the fact it was 6 miles from home, had good history and is the right colour swayed me in the end. As it has been bought purely as a means of getting to and from work (and the fact it replaces a fantastically practical but hopelessly dull Honda CRV) I'm actually looking forward to Monday morning!
Thats lovely
These are outstanding bargains.
I looked at one of these before i bought my S, I still have twinge of regret that I didnt hang on for an XJ when i see one.

Interesting your comment on the CRV, Im thinking of getting something suitable for caravan towing, bike and kayak carrying and a CRV has been the logical contender, but your comments about it being "hopelessly dull" make me think again.
Maybe i need to be looking at a Disco or a Grand cherokee, maybe a Touareg, I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Advertised prices seem way too high up here in Scotland for XJ's.

A few pages back I'd listed a couple, one of which has sat about since Spring last year, finally advertised at £6500 and has now been sold to another trader in the area and is back up for sale for £7000. wobble

There was a similar green one too, about 130k miles up for around £5k and it sold.

oooo - we should talk.... Mk1 insight is one lf those ‘wants’ I can’t justify, but do long to do! I’d happily take it on from you, (I think if I had the space, I’d have around eleventy-bazillion and 3 cars... smile ).

With HK’s SL & your Insight, 4 cars isn’t that excessive, is it?

Do you have an RR thread on the Ins? Linky - please, if so.

I’d probably agree on the mpg thing! The staff at Shell are friendly though... wink

I'm being very unkind to the Honda really, it just didn't excel at anything, and it was a bit too noisy for long trips. I don't tow, so not sure if this is a negative, but the petrol engine lacks a bit of low-down grunt. The diesel is supposed to be a good one though.

Interestingly, mine has spent the last 9 years in Edinburgh before heading down here via a dealer in Derbyshire. Prices do seem to vary wildly. There are some, ostensibly similar, cars where one is twice the price of the other.

Regarding open shelters or garages for your pride and joy, a guy local to me built this to keep his camper dry.
I'm sure if anyone wants a copy of the plans I could get them?

I know this won’t find much love here but purchased a car today, of all things a Freelander 2. Should be ideal for dog duties and pulling my boat. 07 plate, gs, despite it being powered by the devils fuel I enjoyed the 100miles home.

Nice
See my earlier post re crv utility type thing.
How much folding does one need to pay to get into the freelander 2 club?

Had an 05 Sovereign diesel from it having 17k on the clock until I sold it. Really nice car apart from the engine. Hindsight I should have got a petrol as I am not a diesel man. Enjoy the ride smile

Looks OK, but I’d want to see a few more pics & get the plate > mot history. Not a great spec in terms of toys, but it should ride very nicely on the 18” wheels.

There’s no way in a million years it’ll do 30mpg on the motorway mind!

Bradford’s 30 miles from me - I could go have a look if you’re interested? (you do keep looking at them) wink

Thanks, that's really helpful, it's not a million miles from my work so could be ideal. Love this thread!

I have a couple of the outdoor carcoons for the old Volvos. Great job. Just reverse the car over the base, run the zip around and hit the fans on. Seems to take wind/snow/frost etc very well so far. Intelligent battery charger built in too.

Wow. I didn't know these existed. I've just had a significant (to me) pay rise and was thinking of a barge/toy but live 300m from the sea. I often find my car covered in sea salt.

Does it need a power supply?

The extension lead not a big clue, then?
Doh!

It had been a long week...
Supply is mains voltage, but the fans are actually 12v with a transformer and the consumption is tiny: you can run them for weeks with a good spare car battery.

Thanks, that's useful. Would love a toy to tinker with and a carcoon might just makeit viable.

What's the thread opinion on pestering the poor council for some of my (your) council tax back to fix it?

Unfortunately if it's not been already reported on either https://www.fixmystreet.com/ or https://www.potholes.co.uk/ you're out of luck.

So check there and hope someone else got there first so that you can claim.

So what you're saying is... ring up as 'Mr Smith', report the pothole.

2 days later, ring up as yourself, and report the pothole.... scratchchin

I definitely don't condone, advocate or advise you to do this, however. That would be illegal? Unlawful? I dunno. Doesn't seem 'right' though... and you open yourself up for cop then judge

But you'd need to get caught first.. and knowing how government agencies work, that's pretty unlikely... hehe
