Obviously, the buyer bought it unseen, and drove it home in true thread tradition.
To the Czech Republic.
Sad news on the one hand; on the other it shows that the thread has gone international*.To the Czech Republic.
* Obviously, ignoring our current Swedish, Mexican, and probably many other, posters.

Got the car back tonight, mechanic couldn't physically get his pressure gauge into the port to check the oil pressure but the pressure switch was leaking.Touch wood, I'm hoping that's all it was. Fair amount of oil everywhere though. Hopefully it wasn't hiding another leak.

Fingers crossed Patrick! I think all thread regulars will be rooting for your particular E65.
Slightly o/t; I’ve spunked a fairly high percentage of my barge’s value on a full set of Michelin CrossClimate+ tyres. I think these were recently discussed and I’ve only read very positive things about them. Will report back should anyone be interested - planning on running them year-round.

I had a Harman Kardon Logic 7 system in my E60.
To this day, it is the best sound I've had in any of my cars. I still remember the first time I put a cd in it. I couldn't believe how good it was!
I'm sure there are bettter systems available, but I haven't had one yet.
I had the HK upgrade in my 9-5 aero and it was superb. Standard head unit but HK amp and 9 HK speakers. To this day, it is the best sound I've had in any of my cars. I still remember the first time I put a cd in it. I couldn't believe how good it was!

Its about a year since I got the 1988 W126 barge so I thought id post a summary.
I covered 2901 miles in that time, mostly motorway miles into London from the north. I haven't kept a record of overall mpg but it is normally around 22 to 24.
I upgraded the stereo adding new wiring, Bluetooth HU, DAB etc and 4 new speakers, a small under seat sub-woofer and sound deadening, it sounds acceptable now.
It's been a lovely place to eat up the miles. The seats are comfortable and don't give me lumbar pain like our other cars.
it's been very reliable, the only non service parts have been a new radiator as the original sprung a pin pick and whilst I was there changed the gearbox cooler Hoses. I haven't yet had to call upon my breakdown cover (touch wood)
I serviced it with new oil/filter, air filter, plugs etc. Parts were cheap and easy to obtain and the car is very easy to work on.
Sadly it's been sat for the past 3 months due to new baby and the missus wouldn't let me use a non isofix seat with our child, but I hope to use it more in the spring once I convince her it is safe.
It just failed the MOT on the exhaust back box having a large hole but I am happy as it had no other faults or recommendations and I pre-empted the exhaust failure, so I have a new full stainless exhaust to fit and also some new steering parts to freshen the handling up.

Remind her that those seatbelts are strong enough for fat German captains of industry. I'd stand corrected, but I think a correctly fitted belted child seat is every bit as safe as ISOFIX, it just isn't as convenient.
If she doesn't like a Mercedes, she'll have a fit when she sees a bus or a train.

2001 E320 CDI Estate - Surely rare if its as rot free as the pics suggest - seems like a large premium added for 1 owner by the seller - but what is going on with the steering wheel?

really need to stop searching autotrader while on conference calls - Volvo 960 anyone for just under thread minimum?
That interior looks more comfortable than the sofa in my lounge - although in white it does resemble a washing machine somewhat

The link doesn't work for me, but what were MB thinking when they signed-off that interior colour combo. It has no redeeming features at all. There are a handful of variations of prosthetic beige in sight - yuk. mattman said:

Yes shame about the colour, think you'd get snow blindness when you polish it ?!That interior looks more comfortable than the sofa in my lounge - although in white it does resemble a washing machine somewhat

Can't summon much love for that W210 either. Rare enough to find a rot-free one mind.
Once upon a time a white Volvo would be the ultimate weapon for charging up and down the motorway while immitating plod. My Dad had a white V70 estate in the late 90s and it was perfect!
This looks good if you want something a bit more roomy with a Swedish flavour: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C820211
Ferry trip to IE required mind.
