Evening gents,
I haven’t ventured into these pages much of late. In fact since my last E39 525 I’ve been trying my best to stay away.
Alas I had a relapse this week. I’m back in a barge to ‘keep the miles off my M140’ since my B5 S4 is ‘too fragile’ to handle big miles (well that’s how I justified it to the OH).
So here it is, my latest barge. A last of the last E38 728 sport in Stratus Grey with black/dark wood interior. Few nice options, widescreen nav, power bootlid, power/heated seats and factory tinted glass.
That is many if not all kinds of lovely. Great colour and a great spec too. I love my 728 but it's a little worse for wear than yours. M-paras looks so good on these aswell, in my mind this is the peak of BMW design. I haven’t ventured into these pages much of late. If it has the very rare and sought after antracite birch wood trim you can make your money back quite easilly by selling that should something terminal go bang on the car.

Was that a rare option?! My old one had that and I let it go for a song many years ago If it has the very rare and sought after antracite birch wood trim you can make your money back quite easilly by selling that should something terminal go bang on the car.

I suspect the small electric runabout & motorway barge combination to be a “grower” in the next couple of years.
Totally agree - as a cheap runaround where soul is irrelevant the Leaf fits the bill magnificently.I think I'd probably be more turned on by something like another mint, old 1.0 Citroen AX, 10 year old Panda or early 205, although the NCAP benefits of going new and electric are obvious: my previous AX turned into an Ex-AX by way of a head-on after a Mondeo veered only my side of the carriageway. That woke me up.

For me the selling point of the Leaf is being able to warm it up by remote before I need it - choose to nip out, pop the heater on through the app for 5 minutes while I'm buggering about to get out the door, get into a warm car. Perfect.
I am a bit of a lizard though, I really hate getting into a cold car.

"Dibs" when you sell it.
No links to the seller, but a sensibly priced E32 750il. Last owner 25 years - http://anym.co.uk/classified/9d1d8-bmw-7-series-75...
No MOT history available, but my guess is it’s just going through a cherished transfer.

Don't need a leccy car for that, my Dodge Ram used to do it via my iphone. Admittedly the heater was a 6.7 cummins turbo diesel, but it achieved the same result! I am a bit of a lizard though, I really hate getting into a cold car.
If it was warm out it would put the aircon and cooled seats on instead
Not particularly cheap or good, but I can't help feeling as a sedate station car this would be a great way to spend the time.

I read that thinking £800-£1200. Jeez....https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

If that's worth over £3k I think I'm going to do a straight swap for mine with a nice S1 Lotus Esprit...

Going off piste here, but perhaps one of you might have a glimmer of interest in this? Maybe none of you, but I've no reputation to protect, so here goes.
Commuted in the Nissan Leaf for the first time this morning. It was fine. Fast enough, warm enough, good ride, quiet cabin. Good equipment, clever stereo.
And it's got a timer and an app to make sure it's nice and warm when you need it to be. What's not to like? Other than it looking like a bottom.
No shame in that whatsoever. As long as you have a suitably thirsty collection of old iron to go with it. We bought one last May, and it's been brilliant for all local stuff, and cheap as chips to buy and run. The 14cyl spread across the rest of the fleet now only get used in very specific use cases.
