Good news ian316, let's hope the bodyshop does it justice
That's my biggest worry she had new wings and rear arches last august and the body shop did down both sides, so it didn't have a step like you see on a lot of cars, i'm hoping they blend into the door not just mask off from it ian316 said:
The spring wouldn't bother me nor the smoke to be honest it sounds like condensation and at that price with leather and full mot total bargain
I've owned or sold around forty 606-engined E300 Diesels and I've never had one that produced white smoke. It would worry meThe 606 has a water / oil heat exchanger in the sump that can corrode through. If there is water in the oil that would be my first assumption before a failed CHG
Be very wary of jacking cars with 606 engine under the sump. It's alloy and will crack if you jack it directly without a load spreader
Nice looking car

Excellent news Ian.
Here's some more 124 love...
I think this probably just needs a bit of t-cut and a new battery.
Is a petrol S124 with a turbo, a thing?
http://r.ebay.com/fF5XCk
Something a bit more sedate and thready but possibly a bit tired too. Another S124 bit just a 320 this time

It is an aftermarket thing. From memory likely one of the Turbo Technics, Mosselman or Hughes of Beaconsfield conversion kits.Obviously the car is in no way an AMG, nor any kind of Hammer.
I suppose 4matic bits being rare it might be a possible spares donor for someone.
Edit: it looks as if the Hughes of Beaconsfield kit is in fact the Turbo Technics kit. I am hazy on which engines go with which kit.

If we're going 'not quite' in thread scope... How about Skoda Superb 3.6 V6 ( 260ps ) 4X4 DSG Elegance http://r.ebay.com/gx9uWy
Regarding the Bluetooth in this - does anyone know if it'll stream and play music from a phone (Spotify etc) or is it purely phone prep? I'm sure newer models will do it but I'm not sure of Superbs of this age.Lowtimer said:

I used to be a big fan of his videos when they were around 10 mins long, but at 25+ minutes his more recent videos just feel slow and drawn out. I think I read that youtube offer increased ad revenues for longer videos so it probably has something to do with that.
+1 to sustain such long videos he needs to vary the format at least.I think that 124 could be rescueable with a lot of work, perhaps a repaint as well. Might be worth doing if it really is so rare, although the Turbo Technics cars don't seem to be quite so loved or valuable as they could be.
That would explain why my car is in such good shape - the only bits of corrosion I can find anywhere are stone chips which have been left untreated, and the black B-pillar dressing panels where they meet the lower seal. Build date 24/01/03.
I just wish he'd put some trousers on!
In unrelated Merc-based discussion, the Merc classic mag dropped through my door the other day. In amongst the usual fluff of a brand-centric mag there was an ad for the Mercedes "All time stars" program, which is the Mercedes classic car sales channel. Some lovely machines: https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/mercedes-benz/cla...

Would this be pre or post galvanised body?
If post seems a decent buy E500 and not bad MoT history?

Good so far, the only gripe I have is that a fuel tank that takes about £58 of petrol from the light coming on is a bit small when you have 3.6l of V6 under the bonnet. I had a major service, brake fluid, DSG and Haldex fluids done at the main dealers, it was a less frightening bill than you might expect and they collected and delivered it which was nice. In the snow it was pretty good, even on summer tyres it went up some hills with no bother at all. I would absolutely recommend one, it's a lovely way to cover distance in proper bargetastic luxury with no pretence at being 'sporty' (i.e. uncomfortable).
The seats are great, I like the panoramic roof, bluetooth is great and the media system is excellent. The electric tailgate is amusing but utterly pointless and occasionally fails to cooperate if it's particularly cold or it's feeling peaky, also the lower half of the backlight for the speedo doesn't work so when it's dark I can't see how fast I'm going below 15mph or above 130, neither of which is terribly relevant. Apparently this can be sorted for £120, might do so at some point.
Good stuff, cheers. I'm guess it's the same engine as the more powerful Passat R36 so I wonder if it's a simple map away from a bit more power and torque. Whether it needs it or not I don't know, I'm assuming it's a slightly heavy old thing. The seats are great, I like the panoramic roof, bluetooth is great and the media system is excellent. Sounds like they're worth considering as a family barge, I quite like the look of them.

Pretty sure it would do - It looks the same infotainment system as I had my last Golf, and that would stream music via BT

Roll up roll up...
At just 12 years old, with an above average 133,000 miles, this 2.2litre 148hp French diesel beast is undoubtedly shagged.
Conceived with ministerial duties in mind, it's unassuming beige exterior is made even more spectacularly dull buy continuing the beige theme onto the (possibly faux) leather interior.
Digital climate control means the Mrs can sit sapping all the heat from the miserable engine (which may prove useful on a warm day), while relatively cold air is delivered to the driver as he tries to remain un-flustered by the frustratingly small stereo buttons.
Spunk up the £2995 they're asking for this mean machine, secure yourself with the (yes it's beige too) seat belt, grasp the manual gear lever and release the likely temperamental electronic parking brake, and set sail in the car with quite possibly the hugest arse seen on four wheels this side of 1960's Americana.

I’d like to think there is still a collective of RE teachers with hairy sports jackets owning these old Frenchies alongside bits of a Citroen GS or Renault 20 in cardboard boxes in the garage, but they all probably all lease diesel A3’s these days.olly755 said:
