Good pictures really sell a car.
In a similar vein I also like this.........

Only found it searching by distance as it's only 2 miles away from me. There's something very appealing to me about a poverty spec Merc.
Really it should be beige with a huge 'TAXI' sign on the roof though
I think I'd take the 210 CDI over the 211. It looks to be in much better nick, as its mileage would demand, really. The 210 is a very nice car; it still has a lot of good old Mercedes-ness in it. The straight six 320 CDI motor is very impressive. It is reliable, easy to service, fast and very economical. You can get 45mpg readily enough on the proverbial run, cruising at 80mph-plus. As noted above, the pictures really sell it. What a lot of car for less than three bags.

I live at Druridge Bay and work in Newcastle upon Tyne. I'm one of those people who hasn't gone very far in life: about 3 miles so far.
This is the Fish Shack: https://www.boathousefoodgroup.co.uk/fish-shack/
Probably the saddest barge I saw in 2017, snapped in that very car park. This is the Fish Shack: https://www.boathousefoodgroup.co.uk/fish-shack/
I'd be up for a proper Northern gathering. Yarm here.

This will appeal. Astonishingly low spec.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-C180/263618100...

On the face of it, not a great start: diesel, boring silver, short MOT and an air freshener. Notwithstanding these setbacks, I really like that. I'm about to 'need' (well, you know ...) an additional car to facilitate me working on the continent. The devil's fuel probably makes sense, and it'll have to move fast and provide toys and comfort. I reckon I could do a lot worse than that, although 3 grand feels a little rich doesn't it?
On the other hand, tax-free fuel perhaps demands something more petrol-y and cylinder-y?

I remember a friend’s dad got one like that when I was young. He’d always had fords or Vauxhalls on the company scheme, but for the first time a “Mercedes” was in reach. It was rubbish! TurboHatchback said:

Well it may soon be time to sell my Skoda Superb 3.6 estate, a house purchase looms that will eat money and also gain me a decent workshop which will need populating with shiny tools. Owning just an MR2 roadster probably won't work though so I imagine I'll be looking at a bargain barge or 4x4/pickup for practical duties.
Your money, and if you've got the hankering for a new car you've got the hankering... However, this seems counter-intuitive to me. I too have recently moved, and I've been surprised by how much I've genuinely needed an estate, and in awe at the capabilities of the thing. I've moved tons of furniture, 3m long kitchen worktops, enormous quantities of chattels and detritus, and even pallets (don't ask!), along with successive runs of 10 large bags of compost, as well as countless other jobs.
You may find an estate pays for itself over the coming months, without either the image (or the need to pay to go to the local tip/recycling centre) or the relatively poor driving experience that comes with a pick-up.
Having said that, you've already got an estate and so remember: the cheapest car is the one you already own....

I had this same dilemma as paying for skips was tiring. Tied in to a company car at the time, I found a £700 Ford Galaxy with 12 months mot and the seats lobbed in my garage paid for itself ten times over.Back here again as more building work ensues and in my current search for an estate of some kind to waft away my 50 mile daily commute and still be able to perform garden centre/removal duties I keep coming back to a Vel Satis, despite the correct answer being an e39/SAAB 9-5, etc.
Yes, they’re quite something to behold from the outside but even at the bottom of the price point, they’re always in too good a condition inside for me to not feel guilty if I were chucking mud and what not in there.
This ones has been sat a while now so there’s probably movement on the price.
