Dave the seller has made a valiant attempt at 'collecting the set'. Regrettably however, he's missed a couple of seller's cliches which detract from his overall score, despite the innovative and impressive attempt at a regain with the hoary old 'lost the service history' line. The offer of investment advice is another plus, but the lack of a council estate background suggests to me that he just hasn't tried hard enough. There isn't even a dangly air freshener for goodness sake. Poor show.

I'm joining the club; delivery is tomorrow and I'm rather excited about it. Specsavers appointment booked for the afternoon!
Congratulations! Just the job for schlepping across to LUX.

But... I’d have to get a birds-eye maple (grey) wood, rather than the walnut. It’s just too lacquered at present. At least it’s real wood, and iirc, all the wood in one car comes from the same tree.

Set the Lex for Lux.

Love the fact the CD is hidden but the cassette is on display.

Black cherry was my favourite yoghurt as a child. Perhaps that's why I'm particularly drawn to this.

Fabulous.

I'm sure a certain Mr Royce would find himself in disagreement with you.
Silver Ghost was a straight 6, so we're on the same page there at least, and the famous R-R&B V8 wasn't designed until long after his death.

And so, in conclusion, I'm claiming Sir Henry Royce as a fully paid-up Speckolyte.
He also did a little 37litre supercharged V12.

Thanks chaps.

In finest thread tradition it's been bought unseen and not-yet-driven. It has been significantly de-risked by buying from an all-round top bloke, but it is still a mildly unconventional way to buy a car.

The colours are part of the appeal, even the Trump-esque hue of the wood.

That looks to be a superb example CDG, and probably one of the nicest colours to grace a ‘430 too. Great work smile.

Looks like the thread list of Director’s bitter drinking, Lynx Voodoo wearing members is growing!

That Lexus looks like a great buy, CdeG. I am quite envious. When do you get it?

True, it's certainly under the budget at the moment. I wonder which sounds best, I think they are pretty similar power/pace wise.

It would have to be a FL 430 for me but that looks a prime example of the PF cool

It arrives tomorrow on a transporter. The only regret is that I won't get to meet Mark Taylor face to face, nor will I get to browse the MB stock that draws me to his site like a moth to a flame.

Thanks for all the positive comments chaps. I was delighted to find a low-owner, low mileage car in a terrific colour. As many of you already know, they really do offer a great deal for the money and i think it'll be ideal for the type of use I'll be putting it to over the next few months.

I plan not be offloading anything in lieue, but it has to be said that the 1973 SLC is beginning to look vulnerable.

Congratulations! I like the colours.

I think you will have a great degree of respect for it! I am doing 70 miles a day in my LS and I am pleased I have it.

Nice colour, should make a good companion.

I always thought that the LS400 was based on the Merc's of the era.

The LS430 seemed to be based on the Avensis.

However as vehicles get uglier, old vehicles are starting to look better, even the C140 is starting to turn good.

However, keep it clean and it should portray an image far above it's cost.
