Nice car's, I test drove one but on naff busy 30mph roads so couldn't really experience the car, ended up buying a 2.0TSI DSG Leon.

Although I keep looking at them every so often and thinking about chopping in.

As for 25mpg on the commute?! That must be WOT every time you touch it! I commute 3 miles to work and if I drive like an idiot its a struggle to get it that low.

If everything goes to plan over the next few months, I really fancy changing my FRS for a V10 R8 and getting one of these as an everyday car.

If I had one, I'd have to make it look like this:-

I loved that so much I probably would have bought a real one - if they made it frown
You can get one that looks like that, the reshape has fog lights where them white inserts are in the grill but in the same checkered pattern and the spoiler is from the Cup car, I've definitely seen them on street Clio's for sale at Renault dealers.

That's the facelift model of these. Yes, you still get the checkered-light DRL's/LED's at the front but you don't get the swollen arches from the Megane. You can buy the Cup spoiler but it's very expensive, unless you get one of the cheaper replicas.

Never mind 250 maps some of us have passed that and still returning an average of 34mpg
Is that 34mpg on the trip computer or calculated from petrol station receipts?

It's the looks I can't get past - sorry guys I know it's probably a marmite thing.
People say the latest Civic is a dog's dinner by being too lairy but I'd say the latest Clio looks dull and fat; my friend bought the new RS a few years back having had years of RS Clios and even she admitted she felt it had lost a lot of its rawness.

I thought this shape was aggressive looking with some nice lines:

Shame they couldn't go halfway.
I think Ford's outgoing ST looked good but the new one again seems to have been dulled down.
Maybe the better designers are having some time off wink.
Don't know why manufacturers keep insisting on making every iteration of a car bigger nowadays. The fact the Clio was small was part of the appeal. If they keep going it'll be the size of the outgoing Megane before you know it!

"Things I hate:
"The exhaust could be louder - going from the roar of the 182 to the relatively sedate EDC was a big shock to the system. It's a shame that the Renaultsport engineers didn't twig that most RS owners actually like a slight ringing in their ears when they arrive, and many other brands seem to have worked very hard recently to produce exhausts with some oomph."

___

New EU type approval rules have banned exhaust valves and Renault can no longer cheat the 74db limit as it's now tested in a variety of speeds and conditions. Worse still the new limit coming in is 68db (6db is a lot). Bringing exhausts down to be as quiet as tyre noise, there is no lenience for sports models either. The new rules read like a punishment for the cheating of the manufacturers and the selfish behaviour of drivers.

This would never have happened if owners had kept 'sport mode' for the tracks.
Ideally you would just remove interior soundproofing for a sportier feel and sound. Wasn't this already done in the 182?

That's not great but as long as they're not such limits on aftermarket exhaust it's no worry really (for most of us on here at least)
