Didn't appear to be anything wrong with the overtakes there. If the oncoming driver thought the Porche was going to hit them they would be taking evasive action, instead of casually flashing him.

This is how I see it. If people have time to flash lights, get on the horn or start gesticulating then surely there cant be that much of a danger. As others have said, it seems the norm these days to take exception at being overtaken.

I think it's all part of the wider theme of people taking offence at, well, anything.

Not great driving. It looked like even the first overtake was across a solid white line.

As for the aggressive check of the flashing car, all it would take is for them to be equally stupid, do the same thing and it's game over.

Having said that it is irritating when someone in the distance flashes you for overtaking, the audacity to jump the queue.

Such as being told you're a bad driver in a cheap old Porsche.

Suspect the flashing may have blinded the porsche driver during the overtake hence the anger.

I see no problem with the first and third overtake, but the second was stupid and the guy's clearly a prick from the rest of the driving.

I overtook a van in my MX5 , I could hear a noise over the radio , constant but couldn't work out what it was, turned the radio off and it was the horn of the van, he must have had it on for 30 seconds , nothing coming the other way but a line of cars doing 45 in a 60 , I'm surprised he didn't snap the stalk off the high beam when I overtook 4 in a go on the next straight and disappeared into the distance.

There are a LOT of pillocks out there with dull boring lives, the dash cam has given them a weapon and youtube an outlet to use it

on my 22 mile commute on single carriageway roads, a mixture of 30,40,50, and national speed limit, cars overtake me on the first decent bypass even though I'm travelling at sixty, and 20 mile later they'll still be only two or three cars in front
So?

If you don't want/like to be overtaken, drive faster?

When you are walking down the street on the pavement, if you are walking 0.1mph faster than a person in front and catch them up, you "overtake" them if you can, don't you? And when you get to the end of the pavement and wait to cross the road, you might only be 1 foot in front?

Everyone drives at their natural speed, a speed at which they are confident and feel secure. I'd much, much, much rather be overtaken, than have the person then sit tailgating me for miles, which is what happens these days. Lines of idiots, all tailgating each other doing 35mph, all so close they can't see anything, and generally, even in my poxy little clown car, by applying proper road positioning and observation, it's easy to simply pass the lot of them, usually to a wall of angry flashing because i'm clearly a "lunatic" to do so. And yes, sometimes, as we enter the next 30mph zone (in which i am doing 30, generally unlike the 40-everywhere muppet at the front of the que i've just passed) i'm only a few feet in front of them..........

The Highway code doesnt say you can overtake with impunity and everyone else has to defer to you, someone on here said, an I have pinched it "It is never the wrong decision to not make that overtake", i.e. if you arent sure, dont, and making a bad/rash overtake can very much be the wrong decision with some dire consequences, much worse than looking like a spoilt child in your Porsche,

It says stuff like this in the Highway Code.

"Do not overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users"

Nobody dies if you hold station and wait for an appropriate gap, but bullying your way through can cause problems, I am all for making progress but we all need to remember we generally arent on a mission or a mercy dash, being able to drive your Porsche quickly doesnt matter, there will be another day, another road or perhaps take it on a track, yes other people are going slowly but that is part of driving on the road, if you cant cope with it, hang up your keys.
Good post.

A nice clean overtake when it is on to do so is all part of competent driving.

Anyone who thinks the overtaking was fine by the driver in the clip could do with having a word with themselves.

All of us using the public road shares it with others of all ages and abilities. The young, old, experienced, inexperienced etc.

None of us are special.

Look after yourselves out there.

Why the fk should everyone else on the road have to adjust and take action because of his driving?

Because they're trundling along at 40mph in a bunched up queue like lemming idiots. HTH.
