RE: BMW M3 CS spied
Discussion
Might as well chime in here as I have a F80 M3 (best make sure to park in the barry boy section at Silverstone on Sunday).
On topic...the CS looks fantastic and there is a lot of desire (from me) to have one, but I'd agree with pretty much everyone here that 85 - 90k is just too much for an M3. That said, it didn't stop them shifting the 30th Anniversary Ed at the ~same cost, so sure they'll sell plenty of these to warrant adding it to the list.
Off topic...the fake sounds, I'm fine with it, but get people's opinion. In no way does it sound like a V10 (that's absurd). It can be turned off easily with an app or pulling the plug out; so not buying a car because of this is again....absurd.
Comparing to the Alfa....I traded my M4 Vert in for the M3, I had a deposit down on the Alfa, it's so much prettier but it would have cost more (last Dec) for one, is a bit less practical and given how many issues I've seen people have had with them, I'm glad I stuck with BMW. That said, if I see one I know I'll think twice again.

Since when did a straight 6 twin turbo sound like a V10???? Ares the sound is generated by the speakers and its pathetic.
All of this farting and poping for show..... reminds me of the barry boys threads... but oh no if its a BMW its fine right? Its chavtastic!

The noise inside the M3 is minimal, far far noisier outside. As for popping and banging, I agree. BMW are as big a culprit as anyone except maybe Audi that seem to give all their DSG equipped cars the Barry effect.
The noise inside is very much just a muted version of what you can hear outside. From the outside, the engine note isn't particular reminiscent of the BMW 6s of old, but there isn't a discernible difference between in and out aside form volume. IME.
As I say, I have no issue with piped in engine note, the anti-diesel brigade tell us noise is a huge part of the driver's driving experience.
Conversely, my car doesn't have piped in noise, it's no better/worse for it.

Echo that, although when I was looking at M3s and their competitors, I was offered three different 30 Jahre cars over 12m the after launch. Not sure how easily they did sell? With you on the 'fake' noise as well. As for the Alfa, that's what I went for after full weekends in all it's competitors. I've seen plenty of M3s/C63Ss/etc since....never once have I felt shortchanged

I certainly bet you don’t! Stunning things inside and out. Had any issues? Wondering if this was Just a few brand new issues I’ve seen and not what you should expect now.As for the Alfa, that's what I went for after full weekends in all it's competitors. Interesting about the 30 Jahres, thought they sold pretty quick. Wonder if they sold them at a discount, the fan boys will love these in a few years so think they should hold their money well.

I think the issues, and there were very few, were from pre-production and press cars (which is piss poor!). A revision/update before most UK cars arrived in March 2017 cleared it up (electronic glitch that put the car in limp mode).
The 30 Jahre was a stunning car, but again £80k. Three main dealers had them and offered them to me back in April/May. Certainly no discounts to be had (I did try )

I like BMW and I like the (LCI) F80 M3 to drive but 85k is a hell of a hike over the standard model.. however the E46 M3 CSL was a hell of a hike over the standard model and look at the values of that car compared to a standard car of the same mileage/condition; so providing history repeats itself, your initial outlay should be safely returned when the time to sell comes along.
In no way comparable though... the E46 M3 CSL was like a GT3 compared to a regular Carrera. The CS is not that different from a standard M3.The current CP car is pretty stonking already. On track it doesn't do understeer, on the sweeping roads of Scotland's NW it's brutally effective and everywhere else it can fill pretty much whatever role you ask of it.
I can't see how BMW could, within that same platform, make something that is objectively worth a near 50% uplift in price over the everyday model.
A couple of other points...
When I bought mine in July there were still new 30 Jahre editions floating around.
There is a new 3 due out in the near future in any case, so the CS is going to be 'old hat', at least in general 3 Series terms, relatively quickly. Will be interesting to see the PCP GFVs on this model to see if BMW feel the need to support it heavily.

To echo the comments of others; yes, it's too expensive. I personally really wouldn't need more than what a standard model provides though. I really like the F80 M3/M4 and i think they represent much better VFM, compared to this version.
I still maintain that lightly used models are a real bargain now but that's not wanting to stir up the usual new/used debate.

Agree totally with this. The c5% uplift for the CP is great VFM and transformed the std car. To stick on an extra 50% is comic unless it became a true GT3 rival.I can't see how BMW could, within that same platform, make something that is objectively worth a near 50% uplift in price over the everyday model.
