If someone flashes me, I interpret that as a warning that something may be wrong. So I slow down, check my mirrors, make sure there are no nasty noises etc. I know what you’re trying to imply though.
Exactly, a flash indicates an issue. Edited by 993kimbo on Thursday 12th September 16:25

Well done to the lane captain knob that purposely straddled both lanes of the slip road so I couldnt overtake him this morning even after I sounded my horn
You really hope that one day he will do that in front of a Royal / Ministerial protection vehicle, and hear what his excuse is when he is eating road grit with a heckler&koch in the back of his necknumtumfutunch said:

I often wonder why even short slip roads often have 2 lanesPerhaps they are sponsored by Nextbase?
Cheers
His straddling was half hearted though and after getting past I saw hand raised to dash cam, exciting footage no doubt.

Undoubtedly one of those wombles who thinks that overtaking can only be done in order.
There is something in that. The last thing you want, while waiting to pass a slow vehicle, is a car three back pull out and OT just as you are indicating to pull out and pass.mikal83 said:

That being said if the vehicle following the slower one is at a safe distance and looking for a gap to pass I won't jump the cue, but if it's a human centipede of tailgating twunts then I will overtake them all at the safest opportunity.

It isn't the driving test, it is the instructors, They teach learners enough to pass the test NOT how to drive.10 lessons and pass. Not 25 lessons and you are a better driver from the day you pass your test
Making progress is a fundemental part of driving and is becoming a lost art , as is leaving sufficient gaps. It is all part and parcel of being a compentent and efficient driver.

' Making progress' could be interpreted in different ways Fast, medium or slow pace. They are all making progress, but at different speeds. But I agree that gaps should be left.Making progress is a fundemental part of driving and is becoming a lost art , as is leaving sufficient gaps. It is all part and parcel of being a compentent and efficient driver.

The downside is that by driving that way they are putting their hands and forearms between the airbag and their face. Not sure I would be happy with that, when air bags explode in your face at up 300 mph.
In the US there are apparently up to 170 cases a year, of what they term non impact deployments.
I suspect if you asked a lot of people what sets off an air bag, they would probably reply `an accident'
Wrong! what sets off an airbag is an electrical impulse, and how many people know of a car that has 100% reliable electrics?
