Most likely didn't even occur to him that he needed to dress in a certain way to cut his hedge. But then again a good road user would adjust his behavior to the conditions.
So when I see hedge trimmings, I slow down because maybe round the next corner there will be a tractor trimming the hedge or somebody who may not be readily visible.
I certainly wouldn't come on a forum to vent my frustration, but what others may see as my own shortcomings.

How does that work when he started trimming the hedge at a point around the corner away from you and is currently working his way TOWARDS you then? Or is he throwing his clippings ahead of himself as an advance warning to motorists?mikal83 said:

Wow, I'll make sure I'm in my Armani suit before I ask you to drop me to Crouch End... I think most of the young black guys today would rather go with a much cheaper and reliable minicab.
Kilburn and Cricklewood are hardly like The Bronx Or do you prefer it's Camden counterpart, West Hampstead? Being a "realist" might make you lose out on a lot of fares from decent people. Not every black guy will pull a knife on you, or run from the cab after claiming to "stop to get money from the cashpoint", especially in this age of Contactless Payments, and Central Locking in the cab...
Unless you are, or have been, a cab driver I'd pipe down if I were you.Kilburn and Cricklewood are hardly like The Bronx Or do you prefer it's Camden counterpart, West Hampstead? It's amazing how many people know soooo much about the cab trade having only experienced it as a customer.

What I said was "when I see hedge trimmings" in your scenario I wouldn't see them. Your point was?
That a scenario exists where you wouldn't know there was a guy cutting a hedge but it didn't stop you having a pop at the OP saying it was his own fault.I just don't see why the OP got het up about it. But thank you for getting annoyed on the OP's behalf.

I agree with this actually. If you're going to work on a hedge while standing in a road, a bit of self preservation goes a long way. There are plenty of PH driving gods around who can use their x-Ray vision to see round bends, but for every one PH God, there's a hundred Karen's in their podgy hatchback crossovers staring in to oblivion. Wearing camo isn't the smartest attire for standing in a road.Centurion07 said:

Errrrrrrrrr no just your BS on how you vet your rides and watch out for potential trouble OH and your a psychiatrist as well....
Like I said, everyone's an expert. It has nothing to do with being in the SAS or anything else you've read into my post.including sizing up potential customers and destinations and the likelihood of trouble due to one or a combination of both those things."

For starters, I really dislike any bad feelings with fellow posters, and I hate it when a thread drifts that way, maybe it’s my inability to get across the way that I saw things when I was out there.Kilburn and Cricklewood are hardly like The Bronx Or do you prefer it's Camden counterpart, West Hampstead? It wouldn’t have mattered if a prospective fare wore an Armani suit, or Lee jeans, being an undesirable “job” is an attitude that shines out like a beacon to a Black Cab driver, much in the way that being Council is a state of mind, whether you live in Mandela House, or Belgravia.
If young black guys prefer a cheaper minicab, then that’s their prerogative, and if my being a realist lost me some fares, then so be it.
In all the years that I drove a Black Cab, only twice did I get bilked for the fare, that tends to make you fine tune your street smart radar.
Sure, having spent time both in the South Bronx, and Spanish Harlem NYC, Kilburn and Cricklewood were like a walk in the park, but I still felt vaguely uneasy there after dark, I’d take jobs there, but I’d turn the TAXI light off when I was empty.
It’s just a “feeling” you get for a place, you’d have to do the job to understand it.
