What is happening at EVO magazine?
Discussion
First impressions of 268; not good. I'm not interested in reading about motorsport - there are magazines that do that much better.
I've read Meaden's column about downsizing sportscars, I fully agree with him, but it won't happen.
Apart from that there's something I haven't had the time to read yet about MX5s. That's it for me.
I only subscribe now out of habit.

Problem with EVO these days is that just when you think its back on form, you get a run of mediocre issues. I didn't even bother to buy 266 or 267 I was looking forward to the hot hatch test and then they didn't even bother to get lap times, despite basing the test at a track - how rubbish is that?! We also had the usual anti Focus ST bias that has been with the magazine since the Mk1. Will take a look at issue 268, but I cant say I regret cancelling my sub in 2014 after buying every issue since launch, which is a shame. Overall, still far too much Porsche (and I'm a Porsche fan!) and for me the final straw was the amount of coverage given to Porsche's 60th anniversary, compared with the 4 or 5 pages given over to Lotus for there one...
Ages ago there was a video magazine, which had a competition where you needed to read all the articles and identify a line of text, then write the page number on the entry form which you cut out and posted in.
I found I really enjoyed many of the articles which I'd decided I wasn't going to bother with. So now I'll often read ones I'd generally be put off by.
One issue I decided to read EVO cover to cover in order, and that works well too, although I usually read Porter first. I'm quite enjoying the prototypes-which-never-made-it series.

Don't tell me - the Renault Twizy has won. Such wonderful cars as the Punto, Tipo, Austin 1800, Lancia Delta and the Renaullt 9. All past champions but - when did you last see one?
I think you may be confusing evo Car of the Year with European Car of the Year. They’re quite different. lauda said:

Youre right, they should never have won back in the 70's and 80's. Couldnt even last 40 years without still seeing thousands driving around. Theyre rubbish. Can only assume it’s the Cayman GT4 by a landslide. ECOTY seems to mirror the decline of the magazine, looks like they’ve gone abroad this time which is long overdue. I’ve seen on here some think the content has been getting better of late but I’ve struggled to buy it in the shops, but always get ECOTY. If this year feels like the been counters have took control again it’ll be the last. Tough to Call what cars they will have taken
