When I first saw these on the road in my youth, I thought them a little odd and staid looking, only having eyes for racier fare. Over the years, though, I've come to appreciate their distinctiveness and subtlety of surfacing and detailing. Now I rather fancy one.

They were designed for aerodynamic efficiency in an age of 'pontoon' styling, as opposed to being 'styled' as such.

Knowing that made me appreciate them a lot more. But I think they have got better-looking as time went on.

Small world! I collected if from Preston area I think, was that you? Drove it back to Bath on a dark December night with no heater, the cable had detached and it was too dark for me to see/fix it, blimey it was cold in there! I discovered on the first fill-up that the filler neck to tank joint had gone porous so needed to keep the window open as well just to add to the misery

Great little car though, I had to convert it to a single twin choke Solex to make it eligible for some of the events I was doing which taught me to read the regs in future! Swapped the engine for a rebuilt 1570 and fitted a Harvey Bailey/Koni kit plus an LSD. It had an appetite for brake master cylinders from memory but it never let me down and I was heartbroken when I bashed it.

After that I converted to Volvo on the basis that if I hit something else, I'd possibly come off better!

Yes that was me. Another car I wish I still owned....

Would moving the striker plates out a couple of mm help with the door closing, or is it one of those where you have to leave the quarterlight open to relieve the air pressure? I seem to remember an old 124 SpecialT being a bit like that!

So the 105 has been for service, new sparks, leads, Coil cp and Rotor arm - a full set of fluids and is running like a dream. Stiker plates moved as per suggestion and no the doors close a treat - cheers for the tip!
