It is the perfect width for my euphonium case, mute, and music. It also did fairly well lugging 12 bags of slate chippings back from a garden centre. It's not the most practical but I'm not sure I'd describe it as SHOCKING (other hysterical font modifications available).
Agreed.

Whilst it's no V90, it's really not that bad.

Are the 0-60 times right for the 2.0tsi?

The MK7 GTI Golf is 6.5 ish with 220 bhp. How can this be faster with less power? They must be similar weights.
The official figure, is 6.9 seconds. However, i believe EVO tested it on their review of the Scirocco and the figure they obtained was 6.2.

It wasnt mentioned but boot access on the Scirocco is SHOCKING. The aperture is narrow and the lights cut in at the sides. It can take stuff, but you have to work at it to get bulky stuff in through the gap.
It's definitely a smaller boot and a little bit more awkward to access than a Golf but it's definitely not shocking. In fact, for a coupe, it must be one of the best out there, surely? I certainly had no issues with it, whatsoever.

Its definitely SHOCKING [Impact font, size 182, flashing effect followed by emoji of shocked face with eyes popping out of head] ;-)

I suspect attitude to the boot shape depends on whether you view the Scirocco as a three-door C-segment hatchback or as a sporty coupe. The boot is rubbish for the former, it's pretty good for the latter.

Did the 2.0 litre in the R suffer from oil consumption issues?

I have had a rising blue Scirocco R for the last 2 years and have enjoyed every second driving it.

Had an appetite for front tyres and petrol, but no need for oil top ups.

Went off to bca yesterday, missing it already.

No.
It only effected Audis like a4/a5 etc.

I have had my Scirocco 1.4 tsi 160 twin charged for 2 years and after 20k miles it is now on 67k. I admit it does use a bit of oil (500ml per 2k miles) and I have had to replace the spark plugs due to it going in to limp mode, but touch wood it has been reliable and is pretty nippy. I have no issues with the boot size and access but I can see why people would have an issue with the deep boot. The R is appealing but unfortunately the next car is a 5 door.

The 2.0-litre model offers 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds, while the R requires just 5.8.

I dont know which seems stranger

Not sure why?

The normal one has a slightly coy power output & can, generally speaking put all or most of the power down. The R might also be a bit shy when it comes to official Vs actual power, but suffers like all fwd powerful cars do. The Leon 300 & latest Civic R (with more) don't do any meaningful amount better.

Of course, rolling acceleration will be more impressive.

The change up point for the R is 58mph. A truer picture of its performance is it's 30-100mph time which is nearly 3/4 of a second quicker than the old Focus RS

Hello im new to this site and im looking for a range of advise about a scirocco im about to look at on the weekend! Its the 2.0 tsi gt dsg and its on a 58 plate. Its covered 114k with a fsh and cambelt/water pump has recently been changed. It is said to have been highly maintained and apparently drives like new, the asking price is £4950 but im hoping to get it for less than that. And im just wondering if anyone can give me any tips on what to look for in the history ect. Things that will need changing and what do people think about a scirocco at 114k? If its been well looked after would it be such an issue? And any other tips advice ud like to chuck in id be happy to hear! Look forward to getting some replys, thanks guys!

It has a chain not cambelt - only the R has a belt I believe. I px’d my 09 plate at 114k! It’s on eBay now for more than I paid in 2018 @ 103k... (£5650)
Full VW history and in my two years it only needed new radiator, new aircon pipe, number plate bulb and normal servicing. I had the dsg oil changed when I got it just to be safe as it’s not expensive even at VW. Never had a single problem with the dsg box. Mine didn’t feel the mileage - still tight and quick, just a few rattle last form the interior but nothing I wouldn’t expect at that age. Mine had a very slightly buckled front wheel...

Very difficult to know about buckled wheels unless you can feel vibrations on the test drive. I have a R which either came with or acquired a cracked wheel shortly after purchase (stupid that they come on 19s but nevermind). Oil service intervals can likely be found online. There's also a Facebook group "VW Scirocco Mk 3 owners club" which is very active. I don't know much about the one you're looking at I'm afraid.

That owners page is full of idiots going "what colour badges should i put on" and "what does this TPMS light mean", or full of idiots who put huge spoilers on 1.4 TSIs and sit in car parks banging them off the limiter.

Maybe 1 in 100 members on there actually know anything about their cars. It used to be alright 5 or 6 years ago but I guess as the cars got more affordable they went into the hands of idiots.

I once went to a meet and the biggest bunch of autists you've ever seen.

If on Longlife service regime, oil change is upto a maximum of 18,600 miles (30,000km) or 2 years, whichever occurs first. The actual mileage varies based on driving style.

If on time and distance service regime, oil change is every 9,300 (15,000km) or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

Personally, I favour the time and distance regime.
