Game changer and incredible value.

If he even gets a prototype up and running, matching his claims, the supercar world will st themselves.
They offered prototype test drives to the audience at the reveal.

Yep, the orange one in the premium parking. I used to admire that when I walked past as well.

Too fast? 99% of drivers will be incapable of handling that power, not to mention that UK roads are just too crowded.
Teenage boy stuff?
Can they not drive themselves? *Real-world outcomes may vary between safe, speedy arrival and serious injury/death. wink

Headline grabbing straight line speed.

But, how will it do round corners and handle in the twisties?

And will it be fun to drive (one you've got over the straight line speed)?

The Tesla saloons are apparently very good in that regard for obvious reasons - all the drivetrain weight is within 6 inches of the floor. I suspect this will be similar. I can't see it being the last word in feedback or driver invovlement, these days what is?

That does appear to be quite crazy. The comment afterwards "That was 0-74"... I suspect my Elise couldn't even be doing 30 in that time. And all you can hear is tortured tyres. hehe

Their MO is to push the boundaries and they have certainly gained effective PR from this.

Personally not a fan but where are the competition?

Now as a Tesla S 85D was able to remove a curb stone, fold the rear left wheel under itself and half the front left wheel go down the road at a roundabout near the West Drayton dealership, god knows just how many crashes this is capable of.

Hate to say it though I rather like the looks of it.

BTW - West Drayton crash, I didn't see the crash itself, but I was only a minute or two behind as I just caught the traffic build up and dro ve past the car with the test driver still holding his head in his hands in a 'what have I just done' sort of pose. Took the council over 6 months to repair/replace the curb.

Wonder if this one will manage more than about 3 corners on a circuit before going into limp mode.
I'm so cold towards Tesla and their constant 0-60 stuff at the moment. It's just headline grabbing. Cult of personality around Musk does my head in too.
Interested to see how they've got below 2 secs though I guess. I worked on the Nio and they couldn't get near it. I'm interested to see what tyres can keep up.

I think it's just down the very arrucate, instantaneous control of torque at each wheel. The launch control system on a four-motor (which I'd imgine this is) EV can be vastly more effective than on any ICE.

This looks like another gimmick for Musk to raise more funds and keep burning billions of other people's money.

A classic "pump and dump" strategy.

The Ariel Hipercar will launch a year earlier and be almost half-a-second quicker to 100mph.

The claim, by Tesla, to be the fastest car in the world is not true.

I'd still rather have a 200k Ferrari or Porsche GT3 on the drive, very fast is fast enough, I'd want noise and visual drama.

I don't think anybody cares. This is infinitely more interesting than any modern fossil fuel powered hypercar to me (although there is something intreaguing about a small gas turbine if they can get it to work), although there's plenty of classics which are more desirable.

Not a fan of hyrids, I'm afraid.

Yeah that was also the case with the Nio. Sorry for the confusion. It's actually putting it to the road faster that is the issue.

By the time Porsche eventually comes out with it's Model S competitor, it'll be seriously outdated.

Other manufacturers need to catch up, quick. It's all fine laughing with the Model 3 production problems, but once it gets rolling, there will be no stopping it.

As for the Apple/Steve Jobs comparison. No, just no. Elon is on another level than that hippie.

Fast is normally good, nothing wrong with that.

But.....is this actually too fast? In isolation I'm sure its fine, but how well will it mix with public roads and other road users?

Not so sure.

By some financial benchmarks, Tesla has just a 0.1% chance of survival as a standalone company, due to its past, current and future mega-debt load.

“This petrol hypercar is just too fast”, as PH has often been heard to opine.

Or am I thinking of the Daily Mail?

Or is it only too fast if it’s electric?
