After having "swiped right", and had a chat, you finally tell the nice looking bit of totty that you'll pick her up in the Aston at 7.

She thinks things are great and is already a little frothy the way you casually drop Aston into the chat thinking she is onto a winner.

...and then you turn up in that!

Mood killer?!

I always thought these were all automatics - along with the iQ - but it seems I'm wrong on both counts. Maybe it's the mental association I make between these & a Smart car. Or maybe it's because I've had zero interest in a Cygnet or an iQ to date. Probably the latter.

There is one I see locally around Kendal from time to time.

I parked next to one while staying in Monaco, funny next to the XJ, short wheelbase!

Wasn't this an answer to the corporate emissions legislation ?

Make one really low emissions car, so you can sell some more lovely v12's
No.
That's odd, it's what I remember, and this seems to back it up.

. So why did Aston want to build a car with sales targets of just 4,000 a year?

Firstly, there were EU laws. Fleet emissions targets were introduced in 2012, and without a parent company to offer more eco-friendly cars to balance out the averages, it was up to Aston to reduce its CO2 figures across the model range. Basing a car on Toyota’s frugal iQ made sense.

If have never seen the point of a big car in a city. I know that I shouldn't, but I like the concept behind this. Also the Mini Goodwood.

It's a Toyota Aygo with leather for £30k only a cretin would buy one.

That's what I remember/thought as well. Maybe Gary C will elaborate?

I REALLY like that!

Never had much of hankering for Allegros but I did like the Equipe and the Vanden Plas. Yours looks great.

A while later Dr Bez was posed a similar question and stated it wasn't a CO2 gas fiddle as Aston Martin didn't need to do that (small volume manufacturer) but an attempt at a new model in its own right.

Used to get a lift in one of those to judo. The owner was a fr ind of my dad and I had to suffer sitting with his knob of a son every other week. "My dads got a rolls Royce" he claimed every time.

Nice comfy seats though.

Seriously ridiculous, always reminded me of those weird Chinese car brands that often look like old Fiats but with a copycat Jag XJ or Rolls front end grafted on. This is one for the tasteless suckers. Buy a goddam proper and unmolested Toyota instead.

Probably the best bit about the Aston iQ was its LED tail light clusters.

Saw one at the bottom of the slopes at Lech , Austria a few seasons ago .

It was wrapped in a high gloss bright gold finish, pretty ugly imho , but what a crowd puller it was .

Virtually everyone who walked past , stopped and had a photograph taken of it.

I'll try and dig a photo out of it later when I get time.

I’d take the Mini Goodwood over this everytime. Interior felt much closer to a Rolls-Royce than this does to an Aston Martin.
