Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus 004 S announced

The boutique manufacturer is aiming for the big time, on the biggest stage of them all...

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus - manufacturer of the 800hp 003S - has made clear its intention to expand its racing program into GTE, and beyond. To do so it'll need a qualifying road car and - oh look! - here comes one now.

This is the SCG 004S. It's powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8, one which redlines at 8,200rpm, and puts out 640hp and 531lb ft via a choice of gated six-speed manual or paddle shift transmission. And if that doesn't allude to its motorsport aspirations, then the centrally located, McLaren F1-style, driving position and 1,179kg weight - thanks to a carbon fibre chassis and body - ought to.

Those aren't the figures which SCG cares about though. Having recently attained Low Volume Manufacture status in the USA, the marque can now build up to 325 cars a year, and expects to be able to produce up to 250 examples of the 004S annually by 2021. That's comfortably more than the number required to enter a car into GTE, and Le Mans.

Glickenhaus, of course, already has experience in endurance racing, the 003C variant of its existing car already seeing some success at the N24. Factory support for, and sales of, that car will continue once the new one begins competing, despite GT3, GTE and GTLM entries being planned for the 004S too.

We won't have too long to wait either, with the first customer road cars - including 25 special 'Founders Edition' models - due to be delivered in early 2019, the same year that the racecar is set to make its competitive debut.

Prices for the road-going SCG 004S will start at $400,000 (£302,000), with a deposit of $40,000 (£30,200) required to reserve a build slot. No word yet on how much the track version will set you back.

Will probably be awful on the road but I'll doubt they'll care if it does the business at Le Mans.

Wish there were actual photos instead of these awful computer generated things. The exterior looks decent and I applaud the central driving position, but that interior looks kit car at best.

This guy is clearly determined to become poor... why didn't he stick to converting Ferrari's?! - he was amazing at that!

This is one I'll have to see in the flesh their race cars handle to so I'd expect it to be a decent steer, the hard bit will be the interior right.

If it was 1998, it would look fantastic. Since this is 2017, it doesn´t.

On the other hand, it´s a real homologation special with clear focus. More magic than marketing. More petrolhead than poser. More burnt eyebrows than shaved chest. More fistfight than tennis. For me this makes it easily superior to the established tech monsters with their lacking purpose.

Simple, manly and focused. cloud9

The Speedhump on the back didnt look as bad with the exhaust out of it, but on this car itd be just too ugly to live with for me.

Not liking that at all i'm afraid. Looks like a car from the last generation of supercars but less resolved. Almost a caricature of itself.

Not keen on the looks. Interior is very basic also (which may not be a bad thing - weight saving?).

The way the car seems to comprise two bodies with the front one tapering through the (hollow) rear one to a point at The back looks a lot like the Ford GT.

Guess I’m the only one who, when he saw the name of this, thought it sounded like a sop to the potential post-Brexit EU market; part Italian, part Scottish, and part...German-ish?
Other than that, I just can’t get interested about this at all, sorry, especially as my money would rather go on a Mclaren or Ferrari

Great to see one mans vision, one that will actually get made.

Not sure whats going on here, there must of been 100's of people wetting themselves over the next telsa to never get made.

Will need to see a real car to judge the looks better, not entirely convinced .... but it is made or carbon, has a high revving engine (even if it is a turbo) and it has a manual transmission while weighting significantly less than the competition - so definitely interesting and 400k USD nowadays doesn't even seem retarded expensive anymore

That main picture looks awful (perhaps not a very flattering angle). It looks more boss eyed than a Morgan Aero 8!
