Starting around £50k. Still a chunk of change but ten grand less than I had heard. Quicker to sixty than the Cayman S.

Can't post a link but all on Auto express.

As far as I was aware it was always £50k for the basic model

I could be wrong. Thought Harris said they started at 60K when they had one on TG.

You are probably right, I’m just going from what I have read on the renaultsport forums before it was released, don’t really watch top gear tbh
As usually doing other things smile

£50k is expensive for a sound system for sure!

(A joke, before some loser jumps in).

I had no idea they were so heavy - I assumed it was more Elise weight than MX5.

Seems like an awful lot of money for what it is, to me.

Spoke to the guys on the Renault Alpine owners club at the classic show. The new one was supposed to be there but Renault pulled it at the last minute. Apparently they won't be getting any to journalists until next year, what's in the magazine? Not expecting RHD models until may/June next year.

They did put the original A110 on the stand that Renault bought and restored for the inevitable twin tests that will be done. It was perfection.

That's a good price, I thought it was going to start at 60k.

It’s cheaper than the vw version though, does the Porsche badge cost more because it’s enamelled or is it superior at being a sports car ?
I don’t no because I’ve not driven either

Is it? As far as I can see, the Cayman seems to start at £43k and the Cayman S at £52k so it sits somewhere between the two. Admittedly the Alpine is a fair bit lighter than the Cayman.

However I was thinking of it as more of an out-and-out sports car like an Elise than a sports/GT hybrid like the Cayman. Maybe I just got the wrong end of the stick.

Retro meets modern and the date does not go too well. Looks like an old 70s bathroom fitted in a modern house.

Yep, think of it as a Cayman that hardly anyone will buy. i.e. a French Alfa 4C.

Anyone like to hazard a wild guess at used prices/value retained after say 3 years?

Guess it depends how many they sell in the first place. Ironically the less popular it is new, with that badge, residuals may be firm.

Weird looking thing, front is vintage Alpine (in 2018!) side is Mazda MX3 and rear is Audi.

The original Alpine was also somewhat unconventional looking but pulled it off very well, just like a 911 does. Updating the Alpine's looks was going to be difficult, and IMHO a pointless exercise - why not a fully modern design?

That's a pretty good way to sum the car up.

Have to admit, I entered the thread expecting BMW content. getmecoat
