RE: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo: Driven
Discussion
I know the hybrid system's real world validity may be limited, but there's nothing more frustrating than crawling in traffic whilst your car drinks petrol. Mentally it's refreshing as a daily knowing your using zero fuel in all electric mode, even though it's not necessarily the best value model (but then again, who buys a Panamera Turbo if they're looking for value?).
I've not driven a Sport Turismo yet, but having spent a couple of days with the new Panamera 4S I couldn't believe how well Porsche can make such a big lump drive. The 4 wheel steer made it feel more nimble than a 4 series and the grip was bonkers (something proved by the max values that were stored in the G meter). This Sport Turismo would be my dream daily driver! Alas I can't afford one so will have to make do with my Mondeo day to day and my Cayman R for the weekends.... I don't think I can complain!

Can someone explain why the article says you can't fit a family in this thing??
It is really a four seater. The fifth dear they talk about is a quite uncomfortable perch with legs splayed. Four in comfort.

I actually think that the stats in recent years show that we have a large number of families with 4 kids now. More so than any other European country, if I remember correctly (Don't quote that!). If you have 4 kids, you aren't buying 95% of cars for 'family duties', let alone a Porsche of any kind! (No 7 seater option).
If you're rolling in the readies needed in order to be shopping in the £100k+ range for a family barge, I imagine you would be trotting off to Land Rover and spec'ing your RRS with the 2 additional seats in the boot.
This is definitely not a vehicle if you want copious amounts of space. Further, it does not have a roof rail option like my Cayenne. I checked. So no roof pod.
As I said earlier it’s not for the practical , does not deliver the best value for money , and for some it’s ugly.
Can’t wait till mine shows up.

Did you attend any of the launch events? I did and I must say that the SportTurismo looked much more 'Porsche' than the regular Panamera. I liked it in the metal. Lovely place to sit, but (admittedly in a room with a lot of people milling about) it felt bloody HUGE! Even I heard myself saying that I wouldn't fancy parking it on a daily basis. (Not here in the UK where our spaces are laughably small - twice unable to get in my Cayman which is allegedly a smaller car!)I do think that part of me is getting old, tho - starting to be a bit more practical in ways I never used to be. Damnit!
Hope the new car looks as good as the ones I saw.

You’re right about the size. Biggest car I have owned since a Buick in 1993. Parking is an issue of course as it will mainly be street parked. Will just have to get used to it. I do think that part of me is getting old, tho - starting to be a bit more practical in ways I never used to be. Damnit!

69g/kg, as we all know, is an utter bks. I think it'd be great if Pistonheads championed actual efficiency.
What does this actually mean?Hmm. I quite like it. It is as relevant as the Ferrari FF or whatever the successor is now called. I do find that the facelifted "normal" Panamera is now nicer looking than the Sport Tourismo with the latter being a bit of a wasted opportunity as it looked much nicer as a concept a couple of years ago.

Farking 'ell, there really is no way to please everyone is there. How much does it weigh????? How can that weight be justified? Apart from that, what a stupid car. Looks wrong - it's far too long in the middle and the rear overhang, and has a dashboard which can't be used without taking your eyes off the road for a long time. Pointless, and does not have one redeaming quality in my opinion (which is just that, of course).
