RE: Ferrari 360 Modena: PH Carpool
Discussion
I wonder if the OP was the same guy complaining about s2000 seats being uncomfortable, a point of view which I thoroughly disagree with.
I've shared every single one of your past owned vehicles so you're a 'step ahead' with the Ferrari, although for me, i'd shun the unreliable v8s of this period in favour of a 456, though good manual ones have been snapped up already.
For now my Z4MC does nicely and can handle a 360 easily on the roads

Great car, good on you- I think that your parents buying the plate for you was a lovely gesture.
You MUST drive it more, you really should reflect upon that woefully low mileage, I am sure that the car would enjoy regular use and may actually save deterioration ( however crazy that sounds)

As a team-mate to numerous road trips, rallies and races - topless's 360 with the exhaust though audible, has a very encouraging and pleasing sound which amplifies the sweet sound of the V8, while retaining that Ferrari pitch.
Arriving at an event earlier this year, the Ferrari didn't come across as a very loud car, but I suspect it's the OP's approach to only revving it when he wants. After the cold start idle, the volume when poodling around the town and country roads didn't seem out of place at all.
But when it revs - boy does it sound like an F1 car. A car that seems to mature very well and retains that feel-good factor even to this day.
A great looking and sounding car, but most of all - achieving a goal. You can't ask for anymore than that. Well done buddy, incredibly proud and happy for you

Thank you everyone for all the positive comments, it's nice to read them
It's surprising however that my 360 has average miles with average usage compared to many other Ferrari owners. I don't understand how there are still so many 360's out there with less than 20k miles.

Incredible memory that man! It was indeed me, although I do maintain the S2000 gave me lower back ache on a long journey like no other car I have ever owned. That said, I am an odd size and shape.I've shared every single one of your past owned vehicles so you're a 'step ahead' with the Ferrari, although for me, i'd shun the unreliable v8s of this period in favour of a 456, though good manual ones have been snapped up already.

Thank you Tin Hat. I think that is the message that's coming across from many comments, is that I should drive the car more which I certainly intend to do with a Eurotrip next year. You MUST drive it more, you really should reflect upon that woefully low mileage, I am sure that the car would enjoy regular use and may actually save deterioration ( however crazy that sounds)

I suspect many buyers are not driving enthusiasts but rather investment types.Which sadly means many of such cars are just sitting around in garages being looked at by their owners.
The more you drive them the better they get, Nurburgring, Le Mans, Euro road trips, track days and countless days out just driving.
I've spent about £18,000 on mine over the last 4.5 years of ownership but that's nothing compared to the pleasure it's given me. Incidentally I was also at Donnington in September with the owners club.
Takes me back, I went on a factory trip to Modena when the 360 was being tested around Fiorano and my friendship with the DP of my local dealer meant that I got into the 11th car to be delivered to the UK, it was a red manual, with tan leather, side shields and the challenge grille. I ran it for 8 months, took it to Spa and did around 6000 miles in it before selling it back to the dealer for a profit of @£8k, having incurred no costs other than insurance, fuel etc.
I liked the Modena but always preferred the 355, sounded and looked better and was a tad more involving, especially with the handling pack.

To take the heat off the OP here's mine. I'm the second owner and had the car for 8 years now and the mileage is an embarrassing 15k although I can claim to have done well over 11k of them
So many good intentions but so many distractions to get in the way.
Personally, I really like the shape and think the 360 has aged really well.

I had a 355 Spider Manual for about 6 months and sold it as it was so unreliable - a 30k first class condition main dealer car too.
I think this is a lesson that buying from the main dealer who has prepped the car fantastically is no guarantee of getting a good 'un.For some balance, my 355 has been more reliable than my mk6 diesel Golf, and worth about as much now that it has ticked over 50k miles! They suffer from some common problems that can be solved permanently with the right fixes. It took me to Maranello and back with no issues whatsoever (well, I got a puncture, which was a bigger issue than it should have been due to the difficulty sourcing Pirelli tyres for a Ferrari in Italy!)

Nice car - as you say a V8 manual Ferrari is something else.
I have a 355 with a Capristo exhaust and my experience of Ferrari ownership has in general been similar to yours. As with yours the gear change is reluctant when cold, but I can change quickly when it has warmed up (very quick to warm up with a dry sump) or I use rev matching - I haven't got the hang of heeling and toeing yet. Have you thought about taking it on the track OP? I did Donington this year - great fun.
I haven't had it all that long and they are actually going down in price a little at the moment, but I don't plan to sell it, so that hopefully stops the cost of insurance going up. You do have to be prepared for some large bills though if anything does go wrong. It's going in for a cambelt service and MoT test tomorrow and it failed its MoT rather expensively last year.
Bad news for me - the clutch is on the way out. Do I have done whilst the engine is out for the cambelt service our leave it for a year or two? I have decided to get it done, but I wonder if track days are such a good idea, or if my driving style is poor - I had to have the clutch in my 328 replaced a few years ago after I had been on a Goodwood track day. Total bill for MoT test, cambelt service and clutch replacement is likely to be nearly £5k. And they seem to have dropped in price a bit too. This is getting painful.
