I've read some terrible stories of recent Nissan's. Enough to put me off looking at one or recommending.

The X-trail story is the latest where Nissan also refused to pay out under warranty for DPF failure: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17...

I don't know what the average clutch life expectancy is but 25k miles must be manufacturing fault territory.

It sounds like their warranty department are a right bunch of ****s

All we need now is a picture of the owner standing in front of said Nissan looking royally pissed off, and it will be perfect.
Only if it mentions his age and the value of his house.

Don't Renault have a big stake in Nissan now?
But strangely, Renault's satisfaction ratings have been going through the roof in recent years.

Perhaps the two companies just swapped staff one day?

The clutches on QQ's are known for failing but Nissan class it as wear & tear every time.

Thanks everybody for your responses. Through talking to people on this and various forums I see that I am certainly not alone in having had serious problems with the Qashqai clutch. I intend to investigate further.

Is the vehicle on finance? If so, start talking to the finance company about this, as they are jointly liable.

Thanks but I bought the car outright. Won’t be going to Nissan for the next one.

What did they say was wrong about the way you were driving it?

Might be worth doing a smalls claims case - the outcome can be a bit random but it costs next to nothing and big companies don't usually like to risk losing.

You'd have to go after the supplying dealer though, not Nissan themselves, although having said that, people did take claims out against Vauxhall due to Corsa camshafts failing and Vauxhall settled before the cases got to court.

They don’t say what they mean by “the way it’s been driven.” They are wise enough to understand there’s no way they can prove that. When I asked them to explain they avoided a straight answer.

Sorry if i missed this already, but you say the car has done 25,000 miles. Is that 25,000 miles by you from new, or did you purchase the car 2nd hand and you have put 25,000 on it giving a total mileage of ?

£1800 at main dealer prices for clutch and DMF seems about right, sucks i know but then you have the option of shopping around.
Which is what i did when my Nissan 350z clutch and DMF needed doing.

Yes 25,000 by me from new. It’s not just the £1,800 bill it’s the fact that Nissan won’t take responsibility and say it’s the way the car’s been driven.

I hope you didnt really pay £1800 to get a clutch changed (either with or without a flywheel).
If you did then its your own fault for not finding a sensible garage to fix it for 1/3-1/2 that cost.

So you might as well go for the cheaper option.

I side with and feel sorry for Nissan and you’re deliberately posting this to try to tarnish their name

Ultimately you had a clutch go. That is no big deal and no major issue. The fact you waited so long for the RAC is not Nissans fault.

I’m sorry but I’d hate for you to be a customer of mine - I can imagine how awkward you’d be to deal with

Do you think that 25k miles is a reasonable lifespan for a brand new clutch and flywheel assembly in a brand new practical family Nissan? Since this is apparently a common problem we must give the OP's driving the benefit of the doubt.
