I actually like it a lot. It's what that bloody hideous CLA is trying to be.

I'm not sure (although I'm biased) that they have quite captured the styling of the original as that still stands out as a great design. That said, this model is far better looking than the previous one. It actually stands out as a good looking car although in a similar style to the current C Class coupe.

Front is lovely, back not so much.
The interior would be perfect if they had some real dials and a nice screen rather than that horrible slab.

I love the ambient lighting that can be changed colour. Whenever I get a Merc as a hire car it gets changed to a nice amber or purple for me and then a horrible green or pink before they collect it back tongue out

First generation CLS was the best looking, which I bought from new in 2008. Fast, smooth car, (388hp 5.5L V8), but a money pit costing £9000+ in 9 years not including tyres, petrol, etc. despite having covered only 47000 miles. Reliability on a par with my previous 14 year old XJ12 Jaguar which was not exactly faultless in the 12 years I had it. Hope the new CLS is better built. Mercedes no longer superior to any other make, just relying on their previous good name.

Matte paint.

WHY???
Why? Because it's not matte paint, it's a satin/frozen finish. It still reflects more light than matte but just not as much as a normal metallic paint would.

This is matte paint (and yes that's actual paint, not a wrap):-
It's still bloody awful in my opinion.

We had one of the original CLS's from new in 2007, a far nicer looking car (imo).

This one is still nice though.

The back looks like a Chinese copy of what the car was supposed to look like

Mercedes' current styling is so horrible.

Only the AMG GTS looks even remotely good.

Interesting bit is the straight 6, the first step towards a real SL for 2020. BUT, Mercedes really need to sort out their service and reliability, I have driven circa 200,000 miles in 4 Alfa’s, two faults, my new model SL has had 3 different sensors fail in 6,000 miles, oh and one trip to the Mercedes garage resulted in the “technicians” damaging my car while repairing it, amazing. Just to show I’m not anti German, my last bPorsche was excellent, 100% reliable and the garage was exceptional.

Wow, the side profile is so boring compared to the original. Whats the point of buying a 'coupe' if it looks this boring?

The interior looks great, no iPad display thankfully!

Not sold on the exterior, getting vibes of the new Insignia rear:

Jesus that looks awful.

First gen was gorgeous, second was alright, this looks like a mass of borrowed styling ideas subtly ruined when brought together. Even if this was the only car in its class i wouldn't want it. vomit

I saw one out in the wild yesterday in the centre of Amsterdam with German plates. Pictures do not do the car justice:
