Given the huge sums involved, are these cars not ripe for being clocked? Destroy all service history and claim it's been sitting in a garage as eye candy for the last 5 years?
That's a bit overkill. I dunno what the score is with these, but many cars have a physical cable to the odometer. Pop it out and pile those miles up guilt free.
Whavever flavour of choice. Are the clocks unique to the F40 or are they common in other Ferraris of the period. Can't be too much work to swap in a spare and then replace the original when service time comes.

I would bet money that the vast majority of F40s have been clocked as the value is so dependent on mileage. Every time that I see one with 4k on the clock I laugh.

I'm still umming and ahing on whether I should get an F40 or not.

The only thing that's putting me off is the running costs and reliability record.

Anyone had positive ownership experiences?

Worth a punt, just check the sills for rust and make sure it's not sat on TSW Venoms.

I've owned an F40 for a bit over a dozen years now. One of the most reliable cars I have ever owned and we have put over 30k km on it. We have multiple articles on it including a buyers guide on our site.

The best one I had was on Venoms. All the other ones got left in Jaywick with the keys in them.

Look better now than they did when new. Still incredibly easy to make a car out of cardboard and parcel tape and you'd be close. (If you got a B in art and craft).
