Sorry to hear that. I’m also sufficiently disillusioned that I’ve requested the return of my deposit. The list of people who have paid a deposit is obviously meaningless to Alpine and its dealers, so if and when I’m ready to buy I’ll just phone around and see who can sell me one.

You have my sympathies - I’ve felt the same way at times. I was ready to pull out in May and quite recently as well.
The car is worth it- a lovely thing to drive. I’m waiting for news on mine as well

Way of the world heh. Those who want a car can't get hold of one and those that have one chance their arm on the secondaries.

A few already up for sale on Autotrader. Relatively modest premium as well all things considered.

To be fair to my dealer, he's been great and have tried to keep me posted as much as possible but it seems like they have limited information at times as well. For instance, my car showed up unexpectedly it seems and at one stage it was supposed to have turned up but didn't. Anyway, I hope everyone else on here doesn't have too much longer to wait.

I haven't seen anyone who has picked theirs up report on PH yet. Seems like the er..."enthusiasts" aren't being prioritised. I did notice that Litchfield have got their hands on one. I wonder what mods they have in store...?

Most of us are pretty disgruntled, so I'm not surprised some have decided to jump ship. Did you have a PE reservation - or a Pure or Legende? Did you get to try the car?

I was originally using Solihull and I was getting no communication and then spoke with Ian at Manchester and moved my reservation.
I am very happy with the help and communication he is providing me and I am in a lowly position waiting for a Pure next year.

It might be worth trying another dealer.

Remember they are setting up a new network and there will be teething issues so I think its only fair to give it a bit of time.

To me its mostly about the car and I am not interested in coffee and biscuits, I get that with my Audi and I don't place much importance on it.

Passed one in blue on a14 eastbound today - reg was AL17INE or AL17PIN - can’t remember.
Looked great . I, foolishly, beeped and waved much to the confusion of the driver. My apologies !
I believe that is one of the press cars doing the rounds.
That is a UK press car. Lives at Alconbury airfield with all of the other Renault / Apline UK cars. There’s another with a very similar registration plus some French registered LHD cars.

Any recommendations for insurers for one of these?

Ive just fallen off my chair when my "performance" insurer wanted 5.3% of the value of the car as a premium on a limited mileage policy

wow. I think I was about 600 for parking in a central London street with Esure. Try one of the brokers like AIG or Adrian Flux etc?

flux was my broker!!! Perhaps they thought I said I was running a fleet of them!!!
Full no claims (11 years on the car I currently have with them) and a gazillion years on the other cars....

I've just compared the meerkat and it's down to £327.

I guess AF don't like Alpine!

Wow, that's a crazy insurance quote.

I received a quote through DirectLine for 6000 miles a year, 41 years old, 11 years no claims with my wife also on the policy and it came out at £238.

As this will be a weekend car for me, 6000 miles may be too high.

Unless you want two for one tickets you'll generally find cheaper comparison sites for the same insurance.

Have read on a private forum that there appears to be relaxation on WLTP with rumour of additional 12 months to resolve. If true would mean no pressure to get PE’s registered before 1st Sept plate change.

Been told my car has arrived at dealers but still no demo car, so therefore not able to get a test drive at the mo, which was an agreed pre req when I confirmed order of car. Never easy hey

So your dealer still doesn’t have a demo car?? That’s poor in the extreme - presumably you can’t now change dealers as your car is sitting there. Why don’t you call another dealer and say you’ll transfer if they can get you a test drive ? Shame there is no way to contact alpine - seems they don’t give a hoot.
With some of the dealers it seems they have been picked based on how poor their customer service is.

Next week. Car is here and registered but they can’t do handover until next week- I think there has been and continues to be a massive rush to try to make deadline

I suspect some of us will be hard pressed to get our cars more than the odd day before the 1st of September in any case - so we might be wise to get the wait and get the new registration if that is more than a rumour.

Glad to see some of you are receiving your cars soon, sounds like you've all had a bit of a chaotic wait.

Look forward to seeing pics and reviews once you've had them, the press reviews have been amazing but it's always good to see real world reviews.

This will tide me over until Feb when mine hopefully arrives

Hi all i get mine Friday from Solihull communication and service has been good.
Its all been a bit last minute but that just the time scales they seem to be working to.
Even got to drive one up goodwood hill.

I have read the comments and this is my experence:
I cancelled an order on a Cayman GTS for mine Alpine
I did the order online at home alone and dealer just used the code and took deposit
order had been in for 4 months no communication from the dealer even though
he new i wanted to see a car in the colour ordered and they said they would let me know when one was in.
never got the day at silverstone in the the 1-2 months since order and had to chase in the end gave up and cancelled due to the reviews
so never even got to drive one and never even got a call to ask why i cancelled the order?

it felt like my merc purchase from a few years ago when i brought brand new C250 AMG sport plus.
short of them saying something like "its just a C Class" that how valid a customer i felt.
6 moths in a my rear wheel split (hair line crack across full width of alloy) warranty said i must have hit a speed bump to fast and not covered.
not sure how the other 3 alloy survived the speed bump.

I sold it 3 years old and brought a new Megane 275 Trophy and my experience with renault, coffee terrible, chairs plastic, kids chuck lego at me when in for service, but they at least treat me well. May be if i had brought a AMG GTS from Merc or a 911 GT3 from porsche i would get treated better?.

Merc back to Renault what do i miss, cup holders, auto dipping lights, led door handles and nice interior lighting, brilliant stereo.
What did the Renault teach me none of the above matter's its about the cars ride, driving experience and so much more fun and enjoyable to drive.
Its only gone as the A110 to to replace the Megane Trophy (now 44,000miles ) as my daily.

Witch leave's me to why i ultimately went for the A110 over the GTS. Its not about Cup holders and Luggage storage.(some reviews do not seem get the car) if this is what you want them they cayman is clearly for you.
I also have a Clio 182 Trophy thats just hit 97,000 miles inc track use i have no issues with build.

roll on friday for my 39 bithday and car pickup smile as someone who had a target to get a Porsche before 40 for the last 8-10 years i am not sad
I am still building my lego Technic GT3 but this will be possibly be my only Porsche now.

this is just my experience and why i chose a alpine how well the alpine experience is only only time will tell.

Hi Ollie, what a great birthday present ;o)

I missed the mid life crisis by 2 years ;o) had to buy a practical car due to young family and kids, my Skoda Superb 280 is a brilliant family car and fast when you need it to be, apparently there is one kicking around with 560bhp, 280 is enough for me in the this.

I'm in the fortunate place to be able to own both the Skoda and the Alpine outright, I was considering an RS6 but wanted to have the every day runner for work etc plus a small car I can take out and keep for a while.

I was also really tempted by a Cayman, the more I looked at them the more the price started to climb very quickly, started looking at Cayman, quickly went to the S then GTS... That's 70k for not much performance over the Alpine, I also saw a comparison review on parkers yesterday where they said you wouldn't really get the most out of the Cayman GTS unless you were really pushing i.e. track driving. Where as the Alpine is fun at all speeds, one reviews went for the GTS, the other said the Alpine

I have had several Clio 172/182's many many years ago, absoultey fantastic cars which made me think that it can only be a positive that the RS team have been involved in bringing based the Alpine, they know how to make very good handling cars.

I'm off to test drive thhe Alpine today, already ordered off the back of all the great reviews... can't see me changing my mind given I find the Skoda fun ;o)
