Bit of a non story though. Remember all those Ferrari’s etc bursting into flames a few years back?
And Porsches. It’s going to be difficult to establish anything from that wreck isn’t it.
The mention of an engine warning light might be loss of fuel pressure ( or a million other things) as a result of a fracture in the fuel line?
Can’t really blame Top Gear for it ( not that anyone has yet!) as this car should be able to handle being driven hard.
Real shame as the engineering so far seems to have been top notch.
Hope they resolve it soon. I’d rather wait for the cars to be 100% as with no local dealer it will be a pain to have to keep taking it back for repairs.

This is the most detailed account of the incident I've come across. https://forum.alpinerenault.com/viewtopic.php?f=80...
I asked my Alpine dealer some questions (quite some time ago) prompted by the initial details of the Pure and Legend models. He has just received a reply from Alpine
It seems that Alpine have taken on board some of the comments raised and I have just received the following answers.
1- Pure and Legend have smaller brakes than PE : 296 mm. As an option, it is possible to switch for the 320 mm
2- Forged wheels (like PE without the black paint) are available for Pure and Legend
3- Focal Premium has the same speakers than Focal standard, but it comes with an additional subwoofer, located behing the pilot seat. According to my colleague: it is very good ?!
4- Rear view camera will be available for Pure and Legend. Development was too late to include it on PE.
5- Pure, Legend and PE have Sat Nav standard
6- Pure, Legend and PE have keyless entry standard

I do - the spoke design and the small section that pokes out on the rim with "Alpine" stamped on it visible on the near wheel section, and the whole wheel visible behind has a) the right brake to rim size and b) the right spoke size and spacing.
Don't forget the wheels will have all their finish burnt off them.
Not that one bursting into flames matters.
No, doesn't seem to be doing Tesla too much harm. Don't forget the wheels will have all their finish burnt off them.

My dealer said that the weekend after the fire was his busiest yet for enquiries - and he sold two cars! The statement that there is "No such thing as bad publicity" is truer than you might think.
these fires normally destroy the car, no half-way nonsense . so it's a good deal.- drive exotic car
- fire creates a great story to back your "supercar ownership experience"
- get a new car.
My deposit was placed in December 2016 and I have a very low number PE car
Rang Manchester Renault yesterday, who I chose a while ago on the app as they are very close to me
They say the Alpine showroom is in the middle of being kitted out and the Alpine specialist will be visiting Dieppe in April for a training programme, to then start work back in Manchester in early May
Effectively, I won't be contacted before then nor given a contract to sign til then
They hope deliveries will start late summer
They claim all UK dealerships will have a similar timetable.
I do know that conflicts a little with some of the info on here - I'm simply repeating what I was told !

I spoke to a dealer in the south and got similar feedback. Apparently July 31st is the deadline for all PE deliveries. There will be a number launch events leading up to this but not sure what that means or if you get to test a car before committing.Rang Manchester Renault yesterday, who I chose a while ago on the app as they are very close to me

InterestingI also asked about the fire.....
They don't give themselves much time if the specialists start early May, to then have 3 months max to hold launch events, get contracts signed, cars built, delivered and paid for !
They have put back aimed-for UK delivery dates at least twice now - I'm struggling to imagine it won't happen again......

As I understand it they are keen to avoid having to certify the PE to the new emission standard which comes in (I think) on the 1st of September. Why it should be an issue I don't know - the PE is surely no different to any A110 with big wheels from an emissions point of view.
I hope they haven't taken a view that they'd rather let cars burn than fail emissions tests! ;-)Prestonese said:

The app is utterly useless and should have been used to keep us updated rather than urging us to vote for the car in some beauty contest.
Seems some of the dealerships won’t be built until late in the year- possibly after deliveries start I have heard. Then again this is all rumour.
It’s looking like a complete shambles from where I am standing
If this is the treatment we get with a €2000 deposit before we spend another 50k on the car I don’t mind saying that I’m having second thoughts.
As I’ve said before perhaps I’m not the buyer they are after. Was too young to buy an alpine when they were last in production so this seemed perfect.
Ok so the fire will have delayed things - fine- please let us have an update rather than spending time sending yet another press release out and leaving all of the premier edition customers in the dark.
Like others have said - when will I get a test drive?
Come on alpine, communicate with your customers. If you p*ss us off you can forget a revival in the UK as we were the ones to take the plunge and sign up for the new car. If you can’t keep us happy you won’t stand a chance with people who aren’t already fans.
I’m only posting this here in the hope someone from Alpine reads it
Thanks

I also think it is a bit odd that they are focusing on launching new products when the first cars haven't even been delivered yet. Maybe they know something we don't but I would have thought the focus should be to get the launch of the first car spot on and then build off the back of that? Seems to me they are under pressure to generate more orders and interest but surely that would be compromised if the initial buyers are given a distinctly average buying experience.
Anyone asked about a test drive in France? I will have to be there before May in any case. There's obviously no mileage in it for a French dealer, but Alpine could oil the wheels if they chose to.
I'm at the stage where I want to decide whether I want the car and place an order, or move on.

I'm not sure there are even test drives in France- I thought the fire had led to a blanket-ban on any of the cars being driven.
I presume no deliveries have taken place yet even in France?
I see on the other thread people are talking about the A110 "selling well" but I wonder if even one has actually been sold yet? If the PE cars have not yet been sold (I know we have deposits down but no sales contracts signed as far as I know) it seems unlikely other people have "bought" another version of the A110 or am I wrong?
