Shock horror, rival for big GT cars is..... Big..the last 8 series was based on the 7 series so was a very big car, too! Certainly for the time.

You seem surprised about this? It wouldn't be a good rival to something like a Bentley Continental GT if it were the size of a Smart car, would it.
It looks (to me at least) massive within the context of it's purpose 'Smart' arse.

wink

In the same way your Polo looks massive compared to a MK1 Polo?

It's just not got that "wow" factor that i was expecting with no road presence...! Looks very similar to my current 6 series..? IMO BMW should have gone more retro on the lines of the original pillerless small grill 8 series...? To me the i8 is a far better looking car... so i won't be in a hurry to trade mine in soon which was originally in the back of my mind....? And as i said no price release yet but one thing for sure it'll be eye watering...!yes

I asked because I see no end of comments posted up after cameod cars are posted up... not the 8 series in particlular but generally it’s don’t like the wheels, looks heavy, looks like another car... in the 8 series case it doesn’t look anything special, looks just like the 6 series.
How do you know, how can you tell what a car still wearing fake panels and camo finish looks like? Going by the concept which BMW have proven pretty good at staying close to. The teaser I posted earlier. The back of the 6 never looked that good.
In reality I’d accept it will probably be toned down for the mainstream models with the M8 itself closer to the concept...

Don't understand people saying it looks boring, or like any other car etc.

Are they too daft to realise that's the point of the camouflage?

I agree.. you can't make a judgment if you have "only" seen the camouflage car... wink

People on PH:

"looks like any other car"

BMW:

"good, the camouflage is there to hide the details to make it look like any other car"

The M8 GTE will be in action before the 8 series is in production.

I think it looks pretty special. Cars are a lot easier to drive nowadays, it’s large size shouldn’t be a deterrent.

I’ll never be able to afford one in any case!

the side view makes the wheels looks too small relative to the bulk of the body....

I wouldn't read too much into that. I'd look more towards the concept. Generally, BMW concepts are pretty close to the final version
