Just seen a TV ad for the Velar and it got me thinking that despite living in LR heartland, I haven't seen a single one on the roads since they came out.

I priced one up for the Mrs online and was absolutely shocked at the price of a nicely specced one and therefore quickly removed the idea from my head.

Anyone here got one or know how they're selling?

I was talking to a dealer before Christmas, he was saying they were having problems with the electrics (door handles) and they were holding them back. Would think that would have been sorted by now though.

He did say they had loads of deposits.

Ha - I saw these and said to my wife the door handles did not look like progress to me...

I live in the same village as a large JLR dealership and always see brand new/nearly new Evoques, Range Rovers and RR Sports plodding up and down the main street or along the A road behind my estate/in and out the dealers. However I've only ever seen two Velars, and they were both one behind the other and driven on trade plates by young guys in suits (probably work at the dealers). I actually thought the rear wasn't nowhere near as good looking as the press photos i originally saw and though 'wow'.

Oddly enough the handles are one of the highlighted features on the tv advert.

When I first saw them I thought it was a brave idea for JLR biggrin

I've seen a handful ,saw one today.

Infinitely better looking than the assymetric rear of the Disco.

Just wondering, how do you open the door if the battery is dead?

Honestly, the Velar might not be a 250 gto but describing it as bloody awful is being contrary to the point of stupidity.

Seen a few knocking about up here , but seen far more RRS 17/67 plate models.

Had a quick look on AT and you can pick a decent pre reg RRS up for a lot less than the equivalent LRV.

I'm going to be in the market for one by late spring and will road test both but I'm already thinking the price differential will push me towards the RRS.

Anyone like to enlighten us to what deals are currently availabile on both ?

You set the car on fire and claim on the insurance, that’s literally the only thing you can do. Although we now have self driving cars, sadly it’s completely impossible to engineer a mechanical popper for door handles driven by the emergency key lock

The amount for sale compared to the amount you actually see is a good gauge of what's happening.

There have been some lease deals recently on the low spec diesel.

The difference when specced between one and a RRS isn't a great deal.

From the handbook:

Emergency door unlock: If the smart key and keyless entry fail to open the vehicle, insert the key blade into the lock barrel behind the driver's door handle. To access the lock barrel, push on the front end of the handle, which presents the rear of the handle. Pull the handle out to the deployed position to give access to the lock barrel.

The key blade is stored in the remote key

What problem does electric doors solve? I can think of several they might cause.

Funnily enough, I saw one of these today... Driving down the road with the driver side front door handle standing proud!

ETA: Wonky handle aside, it's a handsome car in the metal.

I don't get it.

LR have had electrical problems since, well, forever.

Why can't they solve this?
