Golden Advice that you've received or learned?
Discussion
My son's grandad from his mum said to me
In regards to his daughter and my son being born (coparenting job)
"Don't compromise yourself"
"If she says she's going to go left it means she's going right"
In regards to narcissists (specifically coparenting with one)
Always respond NEVER react
Grey rock/hybrid no contact
Biggest peice of advice above all is to follow my gut instinct, it's been correct majority of times.

Always reverse into your parking space because it is easier to get out of and you have greater awareness of any potential hazards than if you were reversing out of it
Don't reverse into your parking space as you'll never be able to get your daughter's wheelchair out of the boot and she'll be trapped in the car forever. If you need better visibility and/or hearing in a situation when turning from a junction, wind your windows down and turn your stereo off, even if its raining. That one, that I worked out myself some years ago saved an unlit cyclist from me pulling out and sending him on a sub Ryanair quality short haul flight.
If there is a really great looking gap and everyone else is ignoring it or going slowly, there is probably a perfectly good reason, a variation on the "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is" as that is when you plough into the car others are letting out or overtake a funeral cortege.
One off here, "Dont let aholes become part of the rest of your life", that minor infraction you beep at and Billy Big bks gets all road ragey at you, don escalate it, avoid antagonising other road users and it turning from being a slight inconvenience into a punch up at the side of the road and all that fun stuff, its weird in cars, someone cuts you off and its pistols at dawn and channelling your best Ronnie Pickering act, in the supermarket someone bumps into you you invariably apologize to them.

A wise old uncle (who was, at the time, a lot younger than I am now) put me off buying a used Porsche 911 I had been saving for.
His advice on running older exotica was "If you can't afford to buy a new one you can't afford to run an old one".
Bought a new VW Corrado instead and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
As for my uncle's advice? I have a feeling it stopped me buying a good few moneypits over the years and saved me a good few thousand pounds.

What is the best advice that you have received from someone or figured out in the past?
"if in doubt pass it out" -pass out anyone who looks like they are not the most competent, having grown up driving in Ireland which is legendary for the sunday driver i just overtake this type at the earliest opportunity.
