I wouldn't set any credence to any figures on HowManyLeft.co.uk. According to them there are only 8 Z06's in the country. Well, I've had three, and I know they're all still around. I'm sure there are more than 5 others out there. I also have a '64 Willys which doesn't seem to exist at all.
Their numbers are likely pretty accurate, bit they are at the mercy of how a car was registered, so there are cars only registered by the manufacturer name without a model, or a generic model name rather than the specific full detail. So people will say "oh, there's only 3 of those Ford Escort RS Turbo Nutter bds left, which is true per the records, but the records don't tell you there's 30 registered as "Ford", 50 as "Ford Escort", 12 as "Ford RS", and so on.
That however make no differentiation between the Hatch, Estate, 2.5T, 2.0T etc. Then there are the times things like the TDCI have been registered with their power...and then without... Auto and not.
All of these for example *could* be the exact same model.
MONDEO ZETEC TDCI
MONDEO ZETEC TDCI A
MONDEO ZETEC TDCI AUTO
MONDEO ZETEC TDCI 130
MONDEO ZETEC TDCI 130 A
So in summary while maybe better it's still a shower of st.

I think they've got *slightly* better, mine is registered as a "Ford Mondeo Titanium X Turbo" for example. Unlike the "Mondeo" which it appears there were once 14k of!

It's not really their fault, it's just what the database says, which is what someone wrote on the registration paperwork. That however make no differentiation between the Hatch, Estate, 2.5T, 2.0T etc. Then there are the times things like the TDCI have been registered with their power...and then without... Them making it easier to group multiple models together in such situations would be welcome though.

I think that we need some criteria on this;
What is classed as rare? 100 or less?
What is classed as common?
For example, my car is a Mercedes C350 V6 Coupe (petrol) where in bluefficiency guise there were only 66 produced. Does that make it rare? It’s just another taxi isn’t it?
140 or so for mine out of >100k of all types. What is classed as rare? 100 or less?

I had a MK2 Scirocco GTS in the late 90's. This was a bit of a rare beast. The main difference from the others being it had a carb 1.8 engine instead of the more common injection engine. Still good fun though and quite comfy.
I had a Mk2 Scirocco Scala. It's was a limited edition before they made them a unlimited option. I maybe wrong here, but I thought most Scirocco's where carbed, with only a few models being injected.
I always fancied converting one to 16v and running twin webber.

It never needed more power, it needed better brakes. The conversion to rhd keeping the servo on the left wasn’t the best idea ever...
Anyway - Scala’s and GTX versions (had both) were injection, GTII and GTS were carb.

I'd love to have another. SWIMBO is horrified at the idea as they are regarded as a bit "chav" where she comes from.
Would it be sad to have another
I think most cars reach a point in their depreciation curve where they can become a bit 'chav' but then a lot get scrapped / written off. Those that remain can be viewed as classics .Would it be sad to have another
I don't think an unmodified Scirocco is anything other than a classic

My Scala was carbed, but like I said it was a limited edition. Later they made the Scala a regular model so maybe they where injected.
Didn't they also make a gti?

How about the Peugeot 205 GTI 1fm edition.
25 were made (and given away in a competition) to commemorate BBC Radio 1FM’s 25th Birthday in 1992.
Differences over the standard GTI were:
- A/C
- Clarion custom stereo system (6 disk CD changer, amplifier, custom rear parcel shelf)
- Leather interior
- Grey alloys
- 1fm decals
- Brass numbered plate
- Sunroof, PAS

I think he was asking if the Turbos were all 4x4 rather than were all Car 4x4s were Turbos. I think the Turbos all were 4x4
This thread is about rare versions of cars when new - talking about old cars and then saying they're rare now isn't really what this thread is about e.g 156 1.8 sportwagons weren't exactly rare in the late 90s. We might as well start claiming Mk3 Ford Fiesta 1.3s are rare...
Turbos are rare, ~1000 cars when new and less than 100 on the roads now so yes a very rare model, at PVS show there were 3 turbos there...... but the car i was referring to is a base spec 2.0 8 valve with 4x4. Theres actually one on E-gay This thread is about rare versions of cars when new - talking about old cars and then saying they're rare now isn't really what this thread is about e.g 156 1.8 sportwagons weren't exactly rare in the late 90s.
