Well if its worth 50x more than any body elses in the vicinty and is gaudy, ugly and with roman coloums on the outside then may be.

Its a fact of life that expensive houses nearer or in poorer areas are usually targeted

It isn't, that's the point. And it isn't a fact of life. People of different income brackets and class have been living cheek by jowl for ever. The opportunistic and violent crime of the nature being discussed in this thread is a relatively new phenomenon.

Sad fact is that society is turning to crap.

The cops have no money, so often don’t investigate even serious crimes.

When they do investigate, the culprits are given restorative justice instead of being prosecuted.

When they are prosecuted, they are often under charged to keep the cost down.

Criminals have free reign to offend with impunity, and increasingly they know it.

Of course we should be able to drive our Bentleys around Bury, just like our daughters should be able to walk up dark alleys in short skirts.

But in this day and age, if you choose to make yourself an obvious target for crime, then you do so at your own peril.

It’s ste, but that’s just the way it is.

definitely in London - I have personally witnessed 3 x Scooter muggings in 6 months. By mugging it's snatching phones out of peoples hands as they walk and talk, or text, or read maps etc

the 3rd one I knew was going to happen before it happened.

I was on the bike when these two nasty little fkers came around a corner in front of me, no plates, no helmets.

Mounted pavement, and grabbed a woman's phone, hardly even slowed down. I chased - hoping in veign they would crash and die, I knew i'd never catch them as I'm not good enough on the bike and I'm not suicidal. Alas, they vanished after not too many minutes without death.

What occurred wasn't the fact she was targeted, it was the fact that she wasn't planned to be. They were all over the place, on off pavements, left and right. Really opportunist scum of the earth.

Why didnt the cars in front move out of the way so Bentley guy could just floor it? The BMW did but the lights go green and that little Peugeot CC thing is just say there. I wonder if you'd be justified at nudging traffic out of the way in a situation like that.
Peugeot oblivious to there surroundings. what a surprise.

Another Midlands sthole.

The whole scooter crime thing sounds a nightmare. I guess it starts with scooter theft, which they take to use for these crimes. So it’s very similar to the Golf R type crime where they like the speed and easy of piling 3 or 4 other delinquents in and out quickly and easily.

Scumbags.

Just grab a pen on your dashboard and stab the hands until pen can't be removed from between hand bones.
...because the pen is mightier than the axe?

Surely if attackers hand is within range of your pen, the attackers axe is equally within range of your hand & head...

If you look closely there is another scooter scumbag parked across the front of the Pug, preventing it from moving forward. The driver must have been just as traumatised as the Bentley driver, stuck unable to move whilst witnessing a scummer axing their way into the car behind - 99% of the population would have been paralysed by fear and just sat there just the same - not many people would have rammed the scooter to let the Bentley free.

Plan B for the Bentley would have been to stick it into reverse and back up 5 meters, then forward 5 m, then back 5 m and continue doing so until the cops arrive. No-one is going to try and continue the break in when the target is continually moving.

It’s interesting how the blame has been assigned to the car now! I live in a very wealthy part of Surrey and whenever a new fancy SUV comes out, the roads here are littered with them, it really is a nob swinging fest, people even sacfrice comfort for it, when MB started selling RHD G - Wagens again, I began to see loads of them about. Probably sacrificed comfortable Range Rovers for a boxy 200bhp diesel 40 year old Mercedes because of its road presence. When the new Bentayga come out, same thing and most recently is that hideous Maserati Levorg thingy, dont know the name.

What I’m trying to figure out is, why don’t people buy Flying Spurs or Ghosts? Both cost the same as a bentagya, both have the same amount of seats and are probably more luxurious! What is it about 4x4’s that people want so much?! Unless I have 5 kids, you’ll never see me in one.

Because the Roller wont tow a horsebox and will get stuck in a point to point/gymkhana car park, they tend to look a bit stuffy and formal compared to an SUV, people may think you are Alan Sugar or on your way to a wedding, there is SUVs mean you have an active lifestyle apparently, and its easier to see over other traffic.

Yep, I would rather an Range Rover than a Rolls Royce, ML than an S Class, X5 than a 7 Series etc.

I too live and work in a wealthy part of Surrey; I know what you mean about the latest SUV's, I too look at a Brabus G Wagen and think why would you spunk over £200k on that.

F de la R - I am sorry to hear your ordeal.

Paracetamol – once again an idiotic statement - it would never be her fault, regardless.

Laminated and double glazed.
Laminated.

Double glazed is two layers of toughened glass sandwiching a void (toughened glass is quite resistant to blunt impact but catch it right or in the right place and it shatters into a carillion pieces).

Laminated glass is two layer of float with a vinyl inter-layer; in this case it would be two layers of PVB for sound insulation.

Extra (aftermarket) security laminates can also be applied which form another barrier against such attacks. Ballistic glass is another level.

I know it’s hard to say what you would do in that situation. But no way would I just sit there. Engage drive and floor it. That Bentley would surely just move everything in its path out of the way.
