Would love to hear your thinking around it being £130, especially with it being a brand new model.
Because its only £14k new.
38x£130 = £4,940
£13,750-£4,940 = £8,810

That's quite a residual value after 3 years and 30,000 miles.

You can already get them for around £12k inc discount & deposit contribution, so you can knock £1750 off those figures before you even start. If it’s the end of a quarter and VW are short of their figures and need sales quick they can guarantee a cheap lease deal on the desirable stuff will shift units quickly. It won’t take long...

You have to take out the PCP finance to take advantage of the £500 dealer contribution, but you can settle within 30 days, meaning you could finance the remaining amount at a better rate.

All the broker does is negotiate the discount with the dealer. It's up to you then to do the financial transaction with the supplying dealer.
So you take out the PCP, they give £500 discount, and then you pay off the total amount without penalty and still enjoy the £500 discount?

I agree, they will never be £130/month on a 3+35, 10k though.

Yep. In the past they’ve offered incentives such as free servicing plus deposit contribution as long as you go with the PCP, but you can then pay it off straight away. I did it with my MK7 GTI.

Would the dealer be bothered about this if I confirmed that with them?

I'll definitely do that if this is the case.

It’s no concern of the dealer, you just do it with VWFS. But yes, if you need confirmation then go ahead and ask them.

On contracthireandleasing.com the Up GTI and the 90PS High Up / Beats models all start at around £220 inc VAT for 3+35 and 10k miles. So the GTI is expensive and the 90PS is really expensive?

Yep, a Move Up starts at about £180/month on the same profile these days. VWFS got the residual vales of the Up very wrong a few years ago, PCP cars were worth far less than their GMFV so people were VT-ing them rather than trading them in.

No problem at all. I plan to do the same, but typically work commitments mean I can’t get to a dealer to test drive one for 4 weeks.

I do think it’s worth investigating the Drive The Deal discounts too, although I’m not sure the car has been properly loaded on to their system as none of the options are available.

I have an Up with about 8 months to go on a 3 year PCP. If what you say is correct, it’s pointless continuing the agreement, if there is no hope of equity to put towards a GTI later in the year. So, my question is, if I VT, will it mean that VWFS will blacklist me and refuse me a new PCP on a GTI? Thanks in advance for any opinion on this.

So has anyone bought one yet and what kind of deals are people getting? smile

Never bought a new car before so I don't know what to expect.

9.5% off invoice price of £14520, to £13144. Car is a red three door with black roof, climate control, height adjustable passenger’s seat and city braking pack, via Doncaster VW. Lead time isn’t good!

Is that with or without the £500 deposit contribution?

Apologies, that is with the PCP contribution.

Has anyone seen a silver version yet?

I'm leaning towards red I think, I think silver might be too dull.

I was dead set on silver until I learned that the UK market was getting Tungsten Silver. I don't mind it on the Golf GTI, but I don't think it is right for the up!

I think if VW were being true to the MKI GTI colours they'd have used Reflex Silver.

I was in a VW main dealer last week and although not a Gti they had an UP in tungsten silver. Looked good.
