Why are Ford so crap at decent security on their vehicles?

It's been this way for many, many years.

Mind you, gets them another sale when the insurance pays out i suppose, or always having a full body shop repairing smashed van windows/locks.

A friend of mine had his Focus ST stolen from the Harvester in Shirley recently, it was on there CCTV. They followed him in to the car park, watched and waited for him to go get a table with his missus then got to it.

He had a disklok fitted at the time but the thieves just simply removed it and took the car. Police told him they have a master key for the disklok which just open up straight away.

Took them eight minutes to steal it.

Not really a master key, but a lock picking tool for that type of lock. Easily bought.

Can you fit a dummy OBD port but also wire power to it so anything plugged in will get zapped?

I'm in Shirley too and the number of cars that go racing along Haslucks Green Rd is becoming scary.

Pint in the Colebrook anyone?

UK car theft is up by roughly a third in the past 4 years. It's starting to get out of control again, like the 1990s.

All (ok, most) of the cases I read about on here are either in the West Midlands or Manchester and surrounding areas. At the moment this seems quite an area specific crimewave.

Thats funny, the Office for National Statistics data doesn't say that...

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...

A small increase (about 11%) between 2016 and 2017 after a longh slow drop since the '90s,

Oh wait, the 1/3 rise is on Yipperworld, not the real one laugh

Not too bad here in Leicester I don't think for car theft. Usually if a burglary or similar goes on the PCSO or neighbourhood watch sticks a letter through the postbox letting us know what happened and what to look out for.

Imagine what must have happened to you in your life to make you believe people deserve to have their pride and joy stolen.
Completely off topic and apologies for that but way back when I was at junior school there was a creepy kid called Charlie who ate worms, wore a blue snorkel parka zipped up to his nose all year round and continually smelt of off milk.

About the only interaction Charlie had with the other kids was to sidle up beside you and ask if you wanted to see his "pride and joy".

It was a rhethorical question, whatever answer you gave he got his cock out anyway.

That phrase has never sat right with me since.

My ST3 got robbed after they bumped my door lock and came in for the keys. What was left of it was found 3 months later in a breakers in Oldham - Short block, gearbox and some of the interior. Odd thing was, About a week after it got nicked, I had the Serious Organised crime unit from GMP ringing me up - they reckon it had been used in a bank robbery!

Eventually they rang to say they had found the parts (via Ebay somehow) and had arrested the guy at the breakers. Told me nothing would happen straight away as it was an Eastern European Crime gang that was under investigation. Not heard anything since.

My replacement has tracker, a disklok etc etc but its so common now for these scumbags to come into your house for you. Added to that its a pain in the arse keeping separate keys and as I said, if they cant remove security, enter a code etc etc, you become the key. Its boody daft.

Colebrook was my local for years-was up there Xmas eve as it central to where my friends and I live!

Big problem with super secure cars is the thieving gits may break into your house to get the keys, or car jack you.

ST is gone, I don't think I'll have another new 'nice' car.

Just bought an old Focus that has an ignition key!! It'll do me fir a while.
