There are loads of Nissans and Jaguars parked around this airfield amongst the big aircraft.

If you watch the Carwow video at 5m.50s onwards there are a few pictures with all the cars in the background.

Does anybody know where this is?

Not watched the video but if there's Tristars there in MOD grey, it's Brunters.

It can't be good to just have new cars stockpiled like that - is there any particular reason why they're there?

Overproduction probably. As clever as factories are nowadays at building just the right number of cars it's not always possible to get it exactly right. Could be other reasons too such as them waiting to be picked up to be exported or something like that.

Can’t tell if new or used from what I saw, however one of the big auction firms has a base there, and a lot of ex-lease/ex-fleet cars car are collected, stored there until the next round of auctions (a few days) and then shipped straight out. My old company car was taken straight there (scribbled on the windscreen) after being picked up from the office!

They used to stockpile quite a few brand new Mercedes cars at RAF Halton a few years back (last time i was there). I remember being told it was because it was considered quite a safe place to store unregistered cars (armed guards, high fence) until the cars were required by a dealer. The MoD charged the car companies a fee for this storage.

The majority of the Nissans are ex-Hertz rentals. They go there to be prepped and repaired of any damage before heading out to dealer forecourt. We do a lot of glass replacements for them, mostly windscreen but any scratches on the other glass and they get changed too. They have an site body shop to repair any damaged bodywork or refurb the wheels etc. I believe they also do at lot of ex-lease vehicles too.
