Test drove the 208 GTI, such a boring car. I appreciate this is a slightly uprated one but can't imagine it drives that differently. Very dull performance, even if it is fast. No noise from the exhaust, steering is too light. Comfy though, but you don't buy a hot hatch for comfort. Main thing that put me off was that steering wheel.... anyone who's driven a peugeot will know. I believe this is an issue with all their cars? Makes me think their main market, the french, are not human
Still find it weird how people struggle with the steering wheel position - I'm pretty average height and it's great for me. Also, I did want my hot hatch to be reasonably comfortably, because it has to do real everyday stuff a lot of the time. I thought that was part of the point of a hot hatch?Had a 172 years back and that had a bloody awful driving/steering wheel position. Still loved it. Again, it struck a good balance between fun and comfort.
Maybe I'm just not PH enough...

Whatcar suggest the target price for these are £19,979, that saving over new doesn't seem quite as tempting as first glance would appear...(although still a lot!!)
Its better than that - drivethedeal will sell you a brand new one for £17,400....

Not sure why the big "lost 1/3 of its value in a year" in the headline....
I had a 208 last week as a hire car for a couple of days (1.2 3 cyl), thought I'd lost the hire car lottery big time when I saw what had been delivered. Two days and just over 400 miles later I realised how wrong I was, absolutely loved the car so working exponentially this GTI must be a cracking drive.
It steered well, was comfortable, handled like a dream, the tech worked and most of all it was real fun just like a proper old school Peugeot used to. I think the DNA is still hidden away just behind some bland styling the vast majority won't ever see past
Whether they become a car that keep your spanners well used like old Pugs did I don't know, would I buy one...hmm tempted

The PS version is quite different to the cooking GTi - think GT3 vs normal 911 - up rated and lowered suspension, bigger wheels, stickier tyres, better brakes, LSD and bucket seats. It's not perfect by any means (the steering wheel design is stupid but you can live with it) but after 18 months and 16,000 miles I really missed mine - felt much more special than the Leon Cupra 300 I have replaced it with.
I would wager that in 10+ years time it will be very sought after, much like the Clio Trophy...
Don't doubt it will be worth more, but look at the clio trophy the cars are very similar. Having slightly better brakes doesn't make it a different car dude. I also don't doubt that it is more interesting than a VAG Snorebox GTI.I would wager that in 10+ years time it will be very sought after, much like the Clio Trophy...
I found the car very dull, anyway. just my opinion.
