Are they actually that fun /sharp as standard? I always thought they were a bit of a boat. And what do they really offer over an AMG etc?

the C6 hasn't had great reviews for its dynamics.
Where have you been for the last 10 years?

The C6 Z06 beat the Ferrari F430, the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Pagani Zonda, and many others -- round the Top Gear track.
This was more than 10 years ago.

Video here.

And before that, the non-Z06 Corvette coupe lapped the Nürburgring in less than eight minutes. On run-flat tyres!

Below: screen shot of the C6 Corvette Z06 ranking on the Top Gear track.

Speed is one thing but I stand by original comment. And personally I wouldn't believe what Top Gear say.

I remember reading this article when it came out and really wanted one:

http://www.evo.co.uk/chevrolet/corvette/6480/linge...

I do like them and the C7 ZR1 looks a cracking car.

Then go check out their performance at little known events like the 24hrs of LeMans, or in racing series like WEC and IMSA?

Hey Commander wavey

Managed to fall in love with the XKR a little more or still craving something a bit more sporty?
Stalker :-p

I do enjoy it, but would still like something sportier... if only those Corvettes were RHD! Currently trying to work out how to afford something like a 997 Turbo or an R8. I haven’t fathomed it yet! :-/

despite all that though it still got 4.5/5 which I'd say is a good result, no?

Nor do cars that handle like "a boat" win their class repeatedly at LeMans.

wink

I reckon an R8 would have the same issues as the Jag. Considered an Evora?

Your original comments were that the C6 Corvette handles like "a boat" and that C6 dynamics have not been judged as great.

The spectacular result captured on video on Top Gear is duplicated in C6 Corvette Z06 time trials on the Nürburgring -- the world's de facto home for chassis development by major OEMs. And even the non-Z06 coupe returned the same lap time as the contemporaneous Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Cars that handle like "a boat" and cars without great dynamics are unable to capitalise on engine output. And such cars tend to return less impressive times. This was not found for C6 Corvette -- and your original comments are invalid.

Agreed I was somewhat harsh with the boat comment. But the EVO review doesn't give it a great review for its dynamics. However I understand the appeal of the car in other ways.

Depends what one looks for in a car. A Lotus it is not. And nothing wrong with that but they are not class leading in chassis ability or feel.

Lets not forget they tried to change the regs to get them banned only they came back within the regs and continued to win

My review of a week thrashing a C6 (mostly in incredibly long straight lines)
