Well played.
They are so rare that I thinkI know of most that have been sold over the last few years!
There was one in that colour thatI went to see in Hampshire about 2 years ago but, due to procrastination on my part, it sold. Still annoyed as what a car!
Hi again Junglie - I remember you missing that one. frown
How's your R500?
I see you have an E500 now too... smile

I was looking to by a C215 CL55 Kompressor - but saw this come up & thought I give it a test drive, did not notice much difference in performance, prob because its lighter. Its got factory option AMG wheels, COMAND etc - strangely not parking sensors but someone fitted a good quality set to the rear which looks almost factory.
There's indeed not much between them at all side by side, as my CL55K owning friend will attest - lighter weight & 7 gears does pretty well against 5 gears & heavier weight, but the CL55K pulls away gently from the CLK500 5.5 on sheer brute force, once the aero drag becomes more significant.

The CLK63 look exactly like the 55 except it has an extra set off pipes, mine now has just the one pair of pipes (I prefered the look) rather than the four.
Hi again ZX10R - and although the CLK63 coupes got four pipes, the CLK63 convertibles only came with two pipes, for even better stealth:

Take the badges off, and apart from the subtly different front bumper/splitter & twin tailpipes vs. single tailpipe, they look identical to a 200 Sport biggrin

Hi Miglia I'm glad to see you're enjoying your 5.5, I still regret not gazumping Junglie for that 5.5 coupe (& it was in that rare silver) but hey that's life & I probably wouldn't have my suitably rare 4.7TT E500 coupe if I'd got that one but I still look everyday for one.

Yea I knew that about the convertibles I sourced a 55 rear bumper (I still have the original exhaust & bumper wrapped up in the loft) for mine.

I really enjoy driving my 63 it a beast but I enjoyed the civility of my 55 as well.

The 63 has a different front bumper with side vents.

Last of the line 55's had the same bumper but I grant you there aren't many 2005 models out there.

I've just made the potential error of checking out what these cars cost second hand in Hong Kong.

Cheapest one is 1,500gbp, the most expensive is 3,500. All under 60k miles.

Someone start highlighting arguments against, please...

Keith, I bought a Nissan 350Z in HK when I moved here 11 years ago. Drove it a few times then quickly realized sitting in traffic jams was a rather pointless exercise. Apart from the £300+ per month for a parking space, you then need to pay to park it wherever you take it.

Much as I love cars (I own 7!) - it’s pointless having one in HK sadly.

But I know you know this already, so get one and enjoy it :-)

(the only thing I can come up with is that a parking space is 300 per month)

Hi,

The R500 is going really well (touch wood!) and is still employed on family duties. It has had a new air con compressor and new seals on both banks. It is off to the continent at the weekend so should be good company.

The E500 is fantastic. I bought it as a weekly commuter and it is brilliant at that. Refined, swift and relaxing. It has had all round Arnott suspension struts, re-cored air con, tyres, brakes, service etc prior to me getting it which is brilliant. The light interior and panoramic roof makes it very bright inside. It is a huge amount of car for a low purchase price so I hope it serves us well.

Always on the lookout for other bits to add to the fleet though!
