I'll keep my Golf CS thanks
But it can still be a hot-hatch with two seats....?

I'm a fan of the styling and hope the 6 speed manual sells well, I never really though the old 2.o f4rt lumb had a lot of fizz so not sure how this 1.8 will do I guess we really need to wait for the hot Trophy version to come out to really compare it to the Civic ect

i wish this review could have been written a bit more simple to follow..... i recognise this website is mainly catering for british tastes of humour, but being someone having english as my third language, i felt some troubles when trying to understand parts of it :{

where the red seatbelts have gone? and there should never be chrome side-window lines on a hot hatch!

....

anyhow, i read a few more reviews appearing to suggest that, while this is a good car, maybe there is space for it to give more ( trophy editions)...... despite already being several years since the base car of this generation was released. lots of time has been taken, and still what is released does not seem like a truly finished work, something that is deliberately not the best it could be ..... this realisation, plus decision of clio being auto-only + disappointing twingo gt, maybe suggests renault no longer will make automotive heroes that i long for :/

Agreed on the article.

I just always find Cacketts writing style hard work. I don't enjoy reading them and like others can't nail this review down. Just ease off a bit of the pretentious lah-de-dah bks!

(Yes, maybe i should have stuck in at school more or something, to understand it better)

For me - i'd want the standard better riding model with a manual 'box.

A little off the beaten track, but I think the review in Telegraph cars is one of the better-balanced and readable that i've come across today.

hehe

A hatchback is simply "a car with a door across the full width at the back end that opens upwards to provide easy access for loading", therefore whether it has 3 or 5 doors is completely irrelevant.

This looks great to my eyes, did expect more power though I must admit, seats and centre console could have also looked better boxedin

What worries me the most about it is it’s width
How much wider is it over the mk3 ?
I wouldn’t want it much wider, I’ll have a test drive if they ever have any to test as Renault usually don’t have any cars to test drive,
Don’t really like the dashboard, hate the pad in the centre but that goes for any car with one fitted tbh, and I’m not really keen on digital readout’s Prefer dials even fake ones,
So overall for me it’s not really getting me excited like the last 2 generations at the moment

Looks great and clearly drives great. I'm glad it's still being regarded as a proper driver's car still, like the 250/265/275 was.

I think the updated Trophy model will be the one to watch for though. It should be a proper Trophy too, unlike the MK4 Clio iteration.

For anyone who'd like to read a review of this car that has been written by an adult, here's the evo magazine one:

Is it just me or is that article written by someone on cocaine spiked with lsd? It’s all over the place.

Am I reading about the new Meganes manual box or the old clios dct? Or is it the weight of the new Alpine? Or is it the old megane? Or is it.... or is it.....

Just write about the new megane and make reference to the old models ffs! It’s not THAT difficult to pen together a car review is it?

/Rant over

I do actually like the look of this new megane by comparison to older models. Shame I don’t know how it performs because I feel like tearing my eyes out reading the article.

Pretty pictures.

Put the thesaurus down.

Car looks good in the pictures IMO, especially from the back. Not sure about the R.S. motif DRL/fogs though.

I think I'd take the Type-R, and that is from someone who is slightly offended by its looks. hehe

Bloody weird article, though.

Looks great, back end in particular.

That engine bay though, does any effort go into dressing them up these days looks a right mess.

What a terribly written article. It's as if the author doesn't want to explain what the car is like at all which seems counter productive.

Anyway, the car looks great. Can we have a proper review please? Or shoyld we just see if EVO mag have written something more legible?

I fancy I read this... "it's plain enough that the model makes the grade as a driver's car, and right off the bat that's to be celebrated"

Hard to please folk, if the engine bay is covered in plastic it's no good, when they don't it looks messy...

Nice to read about the hydraulic bump stops, details like that I appreciate a lot and make me wish I had them on my Cupra. They work like a treat on my Tein Flex A coilovers fitted to my gt86. If I was in for a new HH the Cup would be high on my list... How big is the boot?
