RE: Renault Megane R.S: Driven
Discussion
i was interested to read about the car until I started reading about the car.
Got bored halfway through the article and found it difficult going, so frankly gave up.
I come here to enjoy reading about cars, this article did not achieve that.
thank you for those who posted links to alternative articles,

What a dreadfully written article. The author really needs to learn to say more with fewer words as he says remarkably little about the car whilst constructing those overwrought lines. For a site that is supposed to be about motoring editorial, the quality of the articles and content on PH has nosedived over the past couple of years.

That engine bay is a complete shambles.
Agreed. An absolute mess Just to add balance, I enjoyed reading the article, and thought it was perfectly clear.
Car looks great, and nice to hear they've catered for two user groups.
Not discounting it for having 5 doors. The last 3 door was a bit pokey inside, and it can't be compared to a limited run Golf with two seats. They're not really for the same thing are they?

Looks fantastic. I'll be looking for a non cup with EDC this year or next. I don't need an LSD or the last word in gear change nerdiness.
I'm currently driving a FWD hatch with the same power and you do need a diff, any kind of pressing on or spirited driving involving corners becomes the opposite of fun.My ideal spec would be non-cup, EDC and a diff but that's not possible
It's interesting to see many people on here commenting on their ideal spec and including the EDC as a preference. I'll be honest, i would aswell, as i reckon it'd suit the car. I'm just surprised that many aren't pining for a manual in one, given the option that Renault have now provided for this new Megane.
....and breathes a massive sigh of relief that Renault Sport have put a depth of engineering into this car that makes much more of a difference to me than whether it is a 3 or 5 door or what the leasing rate will be compared to a VW empire product.
I mean, manual transmission gets a manual handbrake and the auto gets an electric one. that's dedicated.
Hydraulic bump stops so the dampers have room to soak up the bumps instead of a wooden stiff chassis that bounces along city streets.
4 wheel steering. I loved the Honda Prelude electronic 4WS in the 90's and after 25 years a replacement is finally here. In towns the turning circle is like a London taxi and on sharp corners it reduces understeer. You get used to it after a week (so don't worry about it on a short test drive) and then wonder how you ever lived without it.
Having always had 3 door hot hatches, a five door would now be handy so I'm not complaining and a think the styling strikes the perfect balance between the anonymous VW/Skoda/SEAT and the OTT Civic which I really wanted to love having had several Hondas in the past because of their engineering integrity, but can't.
And it's great to have the EDC option available with the Cup Chassis and limited slip diff so now it's just a case of deciding the final spec. - But Liquid Yellow is a must
As for power and performance, it has 2hp more and an identical 0-62moh time as the Honda NSX I had back in the 90's so that's just plenty for me though I probably will wait for the 300hp Trophy as I would chose the Cup chassis with the limited slip diff as it really makes all the difference is typical damp Britain and that will have it as standard.
Love it.

Well said. Me being me...i'd choose the 'normal' model, probably with a manual. Liquid Yellow remains a fantastic colour...but i'm really liking the Volcanic orange...I mean, manual transmission gets a manual handbrake and the auto gets an electric one. that's dedicated.
