you are very naive if you think this doesn't happen in the high end car trade and yes it is the Sales Managers and General Managers who take these bungs so to speak.

for every 10 dealers who won't take a bung there are 3 that will is what I'm saying.

In fact on the topic of Porsche, if Porsche had such good behaved dealers then why did Porsche UK have to read the riot act to the dealer network for their behaviour over the 991 GT3 RS where they were buying cars themselves then sticking them up at inflated prices to make a larger profit.

In that case the Sales Manager and Dealer Principles weren't taking bungs from customers, they were giving themselves bungs. By doing this they got paid a much larger bottom line bonus which is how all Sales Managers and Dealer Principles earn there bonuses on used cars. They also got their new car bonus by hitting the new car sales targets they are allocated and a further bonus for good Customer Satisfaction Scores.

So in all its like this:- Sell themselves a car (by this i mean buy a car in a partners of the Dealer Principles name or someone reliable) enabling the sales target for that model straight away *, They then give themselves a good Customer Satisfaction score enabling the next bonus, They then sell the car back into the dealership at RRP and sell it at the market value to give themselves the Used Car bottom line bonus...

  • The new car bonus is built into model designation and overall volume target for the dealership. Any dealer with any sense will register demos to make up lost numbers as it makes good financial sense and in the case where a dealership is part of a larger group once "one" dealer (within group) is past target if there is another who is behind they then order cars from the dealer who is behind to make sure they achieve the most back end bonus from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately the High End car market is full of this and needs some kind of reform but till either HMRC (for the flippers / profiteers) or the Manufacturers (dirty dealer tactics) realise this it will stay as it is.... Porsche realised this hence why OPC dealers were not allowed to advertise cars over list price and all cars bought into stock (second hand) now have to owners details checked against current employees and any possible relationships they have.

Ive had the joys of working from Volume Brands right through to high end dealers both independent and main dealer and these are common tactics.

it's also a great way of laundering money. give a dealer £20k cash under the table for an RS then sell it and it's pure clean profit

Language fashion seems to have moved on from replacing one word when two or more simpleton’s words will do.

Now it appears to be starting sentences in the middle, using puncturation like confetti and obscuring the meaning of a sentence. What a hard read.

So the above is a 911 minus the rear seats then.....

Well, that is certainly one approach - but I can't see myself offering amateur dentistry after seeing people leave a surgery in pain, for instance. Becoming a brickie after paying out for dodgy work; trying to persuade others to invest their cash after receiving poor advice from a financial advisor - where do you stop?

Personally I think it's OK to call out bad work without there being an expectation to produce better but regardless, I can see we have differences re: writing styles and PH content etc, and I'm happy to agree to disagree.
'Amateur dentistry' I nearly soiled myself, best laugh in quite some time. Agreed with calling out particularly poor work.

Cars like this upcoming Spyder deserve proper attention, availability situation included.

Want. Drove a 718 S earlier this summer and was so surprised at what a good car it was, expected to be disappointed with the engine but even that impressed me. This could be incredible.

To the post that was grumbling about putting his name down for a GT4 and didn’t get one due to people who’d bought more Porsche’s getting theirs... if it was your car garage what would you do? Look after your regular trade or sell it to you?

Someone did point out Porsche seem to be making these limited runs once too often in recent years, not that they are short of takers mind you but not quite the uniqueness their limited runs had in the past.

If they aren't short on takers they aren't making them once too often, are they?

Car manufacturers, especially Porsche are not in business to make cars... they make money.
If you had a queue of people bashing your door down to get their name on the list for the latest and greatest, you too would keep churning out the "special" cars. Not to mention the publicity they gain everyt time they do this because people talk about so called scandals when buying new porsches and their so called allocation.Porsche make amazing cars, theyre highly desirable, sought after and their products are superb in my opinion.

People slag off Apple, but theres always a queue for the latest iphone and its still probably the most popular smartphone. Its a good product, the customer service is good, its intuative and folks like it.

My bet is the GT4/Spyder run circa 395bhp and most preferably a NA 6 pot but wouldnt be at all suprised to see a tuned 4 pot turbo. Whatever engine it gets, there will be keyboard heros slag it off, for whatever reason. Alongside those to bh and moan they didnt get a slot.

UPDATE - 16.08.18

Due for reveal later this summer before arriving on roads in the winter, the new, driver-focused drop-top will eschew turbocharged boxer power for - hooray - a naturally-aspirated flat-six, plucked directly from the 911 GT3.

Thats still speculation at the moment is it not. De-tuned GT3 engine sounds to me like marketing pizazz to generate further interest.

I am fairly sure based on my sources that the gt4/spyder are not getting the gt3 engine, rather a bored 3.8 from the current car to make a 4.0. The upcoming gt4rs will have the gt3 engine in it but will be priced akin to the gt3, but still the cheapest rs product.

In my experience, I’ve not known Porsche to over promise and under deliver. In fact they’ve always under promised and over delivered. I expect to see a variant of the 991.2 GT3 engine in this car and the GT4.

I know many people are saying this car is NA, and I have my name on the list on the basis that people I trust with connection to Porsche is saying it’s NA, but every time I watch a video it just sounds like a muffled turbo engine! Have you guys and gals watch the latest Nurburgring video? Sounds like the Carrera T6 for sure? Or can particle filter make exhaust sound like that? That would be a quick fix with an aftermarket exhaust!

From Porsche's point of view your right.
