I thoroughly enjoyed my MY14 WRX STI except for the rock hard suspension. It caused me serious back issues. I toyed with getting it modified but in the end got rid. Drive a Gen 4 Prius now, and regretting it every day...

It’s lovely and arguably the sweetest spot.

How do these JDM cars do for corrosion around the rear suspension mounts?

Unless you buy a leggy one (Motorhub) they're usually fine, they don't seem to rust there unless they've really been treated like st. Newera are very well known for exceptionally high quality cars

The most outrageously expensive and even more valeted to withing inches of their lives than Hurst's offerings (as we're mentioning names)

I thought Hurst were known for being pretty good? Motorhub just sell cars that are pushing on unroadworthy. I like to go once a month though, only place I can get close to stuff like Lancias

I have to say the 17/18 model suspension is really good it's actually comfortable on the motorways and rides the pot holes really well

Good choice but i think ultimate wagon for me is STI V6 Limited wagon on the Rays STI wheels.
I'd love to combine one with a DCCD.

Oh, I think Hurst has a solid rep, if solidly very expensive. They manage to get their cars immaculate. The underneath of them too

Is Motorhub still as bad? They went through a rough period a few years back I know, but thought more lately have been getting decent cars out for OK money

Oh it's very much still as bad, they have a jag in there for £5k with a brown sagging headliner from rust water and collapsed suspension.

They have a V6 on here now I think, pretty sure it's an easy job doing the DCCD conversion.

Not a big job at all, 2 V6 Limited wagons going up for auction soon, hopefully the lotto ticket in my wallet comes good! They're starting to be recognised for what they are now. Love the seats in the v limited also, almost identical to p1 seats.

one grade ra (minor repair) with 38k km!!!! the other with 128k km grade 4. both on wrong wheels but I could live with that lol.

DCCD, remap and away you go. nearly as rare as a 22b too.

I better stop getting so fanboy over old Subaru estates before the people start wanting them and make it more out of budget for me laughlaugh

I'll just have to fit a DCCD to my own one

You seen the 2 on here for sale? My uncle had the Type R, had a new engine from Roger Clark, AP brakes, Bilstein suspension. They're astounding cars. As soon as I can afford to do so I'll be getting a 2000 Turbo Wagon, as much as the GC8 may be a better car to drive, the GF8 just looks so much better, and would be a better car to live with too.

Sure have! Your uncle's one sounds like a mega machine, the APs in particular are a great upgrade (the standard 4 pots are wk to be honest and a b*****d for seizing up but a master cylinder brace does improve the feel immensely) mate of mine has Porsche calipers on his Type R and they're epic!

definitely get yourself a wagon, I love mine. Looks so much better! I don't daily mine, its main use is blasting from stage to stage when spectating on rallies and the big boot is great for a rally weekend. But I will say if you get one and put an aftermarket exhaust on, they are very loud inside with the boot floor open to the cabin. That said I have a Nur Spec R on mine so I was only asking for trouble there :laughs: the other half can't stand a journey over 30 mins in it. Think I need an intercom

Looks very clean, those are the P1 wheels? My dad had a 2000 Turbo when it was 3 years old, got stolen a year later and he bought my car as a quick replacement. My uncle was told by Ollie Clarke that his was one of the very best they'd ever driven, I think the base engine build he had is the same as their hillclimb car too. It was my dad and my uncle both having them that got me into cars, still have that love for Subaru, always have.

The picture is flattering! Wasn't long after a clay bar and a polish when I took that. Those are indeed P1 wheels, original ones too not knockoffs. Worth the 8 hour round trip to go get them but in need of a refurb, which is low on the list of jobs currently. Need to get her back on the road for rally season and a pile of boxes in the shed unopened still.

Is the grey one your uncles? I think thats the best colour on the Type Rs personally. Thats high praise coming from Ollie Clark! Must have been an ej207 in your uncles so which is one of the better ones as I imagine they would be using one of those in their hillclimb car although open to correction on that. judging on the colour I'm thinking 1999 your uncles was?

Actually I reckon your right, they probably would have opted for an earlier closed deck block I would imagine. In gobstopper 1 anyway. 2 & 3 probably much later engines

Gobstopper one engine is pretty trick, no chance that was sold in a normal road car application. There has only been 2 GS cars.

I didn't say that his was the exact same build, I'm saying they told him that the basic build was shared with G1, except in roadgoing form and much less power (320bhp), I'd have to ask him exactly what they said to him anyway.

The grey one is yeah, it was an S reg, think he got it in early 99 when he had it imported from Japan to Holland then drove it back here.
